My new to me 2017 M3W has some leak from the brake fluid reservoir.

At the beginning I thought it is because the reservoir was over-filled. I took some of the brake fluid out and the level is now below the max mark. I also tightened the hose clamps but it still leaks.

It appears the leak is coming at the cap area. I checked the cap and it appear ok and well tightened with healthy looking rubber seal.

Any suggestions please?

I am not sure if this is of any help but the red brake warning light comes for a a few seconds when doing "hard" right-hand cornering (and fast driving in roundabouts), This red warning brake light does not come on left-hand cornering).

Thank you

Ahmed

The brake warning is because the fluid level is low and you are cornering. It shouldn't be too tricky to clean everything off and see where the leak is from and fix it.

The fluid level is just a couple of millimetres below the max level. So it's not really low.

The fluid is seen dripping at the lower rim of the cap (see pic please). So possibly it is coming through the reservoir opening. ie not tight cap.

Have you checked the previous owner has not lost the sealing washer in the cap ? It's a flat black rubber washer

I don't know how it is supposed to look like but here is a pic of the inside of the cap.

Make sure the tiny vent hole in the cap is not plugged so the reservoir can breathe.

BTW, is there a better way to insert images. I looked at the "forum help" and it says the "image manager" link will allow me to navigate files on my pc and attach. This is not working with me confused2
