] In 2004 I bought the newly arrived Roadster series one....... Bring back red hot air on my feet and freezing face...I love it. Nick For balance, I had a '88 Porsche 911 Turbo cabriolet, an air cooled engine design that has had extensive development etc. the warm air heating system relied upon engine heat exchangers to force warm air thru the sill channels into the cabin. So in winter one had a source of heat in the cabin, fine in the non turbo models but had an interesting trait for the turbo models. With the heating on in winter as soon as you spooled up the turbo above 2800rpm a wall of super warm heat flooded the cabin from the heat exchanger, hot enough to burn you feet or start to melt your shoes. So in winter you effectively had no heating in the cabin unless you drove relatively respectfully making sure you never spooled the turbo.......................

One day I will fit a replacement seat belt receiver, one is red and the other orange! Precisely my point. One should be red and the other one green......

Peter, no raw nerves touched here either, I merely sought to engage in the conversation and not to induce any form of debate.. I come here to learn and share experience, and have no wish to do other than that.

The (otherwise very nice) Roadster 100 that has just popped-up for sale has a rather grim-looking job of sealing the bulkhead. Mine's just as bad mind you, and also dates from 2009. Was the mastic guy having a bad day, or are they all like that ? Has anyone poked/peeled theirs off and done a neater job ? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/12/05/1-Roadster-bulkhead-mess.jpg) Peter, it's not a modern 'mastic' as we know it that cures It's a deliberately non-setting goo, laid in a thin strip, that I used to know as dumdum, it works very well on classic cars which twist / shrink / expand with the seasons & driving, hence it continues to extrude from joints You can clean it off, but that in itself is a messy job, I use cloth offcuts and sort of pinch & pull

Ah yes, I remember DumDum, excellent if horribly messy stuff. It still shows-up online in tape form, "This amazing tape is great at preventing ad-hoc leaks and in door panels, bolt on panels, rear tail-lights, old style windscreens, sun roofs, and general panel bonding". Ad hoc leaks is a wonderful term isn't it ?? Here's the link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203226595690?hash=item2f513fc16a:g:H-YAAOSw49tfxm82 It sounds as if MMC have been using the white variant for a while, as detailed in the 2015 book "Making a Morgan". So I'll be dealing with 13 years of residual oozing if I do decide to "improve" mine. Maybe a bit of 'mastic' solvent would help, and I'll go easy in case that starts to dissolve paint. What could possibly go wrong... ?![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/12/05/4-Bulkhead-in-Making-a-Morgan.jpg)

Nice tidy up Peter, I used to have to do that on the previous S1 one a year As the idea of dum-dum is that it doesn't dry out & stays flexible, is a bonus on Mogs which continually flex, if MMC used a curing mastic we'd all eventually suffer leaks into the cabin via the bulkhead, which is a real pain to cure Time for a brew and bask in a sense of neatness

Thanks, brew duly consumed. Each side produced a marble-sized ball of DumDum. And a quantity of some unidentifyable goop that looks like a cross between PVA glue and ear wax (sorry for analogy). It was painted over the exposed ash frame. I replicated it with a coating of PVA glue which is resitant to most substances found in engine bays. My wife says I shouldn't post "dirty pictures" on the Internet. Must polish the inside of the bonnet louvres next. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/05/20/DumDum-and-goop.jpg)
