Forgive my ignorance, but mine is not working and there is nothing in the manual about it. What do I need to check, or is it as simple as a switch under the dash that I have missed?

This one was advertised as having had it fitted, but I know no more than that.

John V6 of this parish is up to speed on this having had issues with PAS on his Brookland's 3.7 Roadster. Thread here. I believe there are three variants with the earliest being provided by EZ.

Yes 3 variants. Firstly check you have it. The motor sticks out of the column in the drivers footwell. EZ units should have their name on them. Mine is an MMC copy I think. No markings & the control box above the passengers footwell.

I have an MMC version on my +4, sometimes the large connection plug needs a squeeze as vibration seems to loosen it.

To the best of my knowledge none of the 3.0 litre cars had power steering . I've had the hydraulic version from Classic Driving Developments recently fitted and I couldn't be more pleased. I've owned this car from new (2004) and it's now the best it's ever been. I'd like to fit a smaller steering wheel though, but I'd like to be able to see the instruments drive

I'm sure you are right. I think it was around the introduction of the 5 link rear in 2018 that PAS became standard on the Roadster. It was however available as a factory option on Roadster's and maybe Plus 4, not to mention limited edition models well before that.

The earliest electric PAS was by EZ and introduced in December 2005 by Jack Knight to work with his rack, according to GoMog.

Then as I understood it MMC made their own version which my car has. Till at some time moving to Vauxhall Corsa units.
Of course other aftermarket suppliers also exist including hydraulic systems.

Thank you all - very helpful. No sign of an electronic unit behind the steering column or of an hydraulic one in the engine bay, and the dealer that supplied the car new has no record of ordering or fitting power steering. We are checking further, but it may have been misleadingly advertised.
