Mercedes have decided not to appeal so that leaves them with their heads held high and Axeman with a hollow victory, FIA looking absolutely diminished, we'll wait and see what happens next year.
Minimum Masi the clown has to go.

Pleased to hear that .... fighting it would have diminished them as it descended into squabbling .... this way everyone knows the story and the fallout within the FIA will underline the right of their position.

Absolutely an apalling situation i feel sorry for Max as he is now a non- champion --- everyone knows Lewis legitimately won it! Crazy when a champion is crowned when the rules were admittedly broken. its like a athlete was crowned champion when a false start was patently recorded

Isn't this a fact of life in sport? Look at Maradonna's hand of god incident. A blatant cheat which decided the outcome.

It's why I have no interest in sport.

Several years ago I was involved with rugby admin in the WRU. Junior rugby level. It was extremely frustrating to say the least. I eventually left it as a lost cause. I was so fed up that I stopped watching rugby at any level and either went fishing or played golf instead. Ido watch and enjoy rugby again but to a lesser degree. I enjoy watching spirt of any kind if it is entertaining and exciting.
However, a trend I see is one of money talking, TV over influencing sport in that dates/times of matches are changed to suit tv.
There will be controversy in all sports as the money involved increases.
The shenanigans in F1 has been brewing for years and I hope the 2021 season brings changes that better the “sport”.
In my view Max has a hollow victory not actually won in a sporting contest.
Good to see Red Bull challenging Mercedes’ dominance but some RB people need to look at their behaviour and attitude.
Lewis and Mercedes have got it right in letting it go. My guess is that it has prompted some behind the scenes activity to improve things both on and off the track. I hope so.

“Rules is Rules”

Don’t know whether to laugh or cry!

Having shafted Lewis and taking no notice of rules or precedent (latter very important in court of law apparently) the FIA have a new president replacing that great luminary Todt. They operate a “Buggins turn” every four years.

And so we have the new great one’s first edict from upon high. Paraphrasing, Lewis broke the rules in not attending the great FIA dinner. He added "If there is any breach, there is no forgiveness in this,"

Why or why couldn’t he keep his mouth firmly shut. Obviously this guy has zero man management or business skills. Oh dear, I forgot we are talking FIA here. I’m awaiting a five place grid penalty to be given for this insolence.

Yes, I’m still bitter and twisted.

+1 to all that.

Max did enough to win the championship; so did Lewis. Rules were applied inconsistently all year, leaving I think everybody from drivers to fans confused, not least on the line between hard racing and bad driving. There's been no reward for sporting behaviour, and barely any punishment for unsporting behaviour.

Checco's defence to Lewis in the last race shows exactly what hard racing looks like; it would be a good thing if the rules were applied to encourage it.

'22 will be an interesting season if enough manufacturers produce competitive cars; the powertrains seem to be broadly equal.
