This could potentially be a serious problem as there are no timing belts available, well none that i can find.

I was talking with Matt from Matts Machine Shop earlier today as I wanted to buy one from him. H told me he sold the last one last week and S & S have no stock and are not getting anymore as they have stopped supporting the X-Wedge. His total stock went to Morgan dealers.

Apparently Gates made them under licence from S & S so cannot distribute any through the aftermarket.

Anyone got stock hidden away?

There is THIS ON EBAY if you fancy taking a punt. Cheap enough that you won't cry for too long if it doesn't fit!

Krazy Horse now have one less. My first annual service at just 850miles and KH found that the cam belt was cracked. A little worrying on a 12 month old M3W. I understand that the S&S wedge engine will not have damage if the cam belt breaks i.e, the valves won`t go through the pistons?? Can anyone confirm this ??

Nick - no damage will be sustained if the belt breaks...on the early ones, the belt breaking was a common failure (as the cam chest wasn't vented) and no damage ever reported. Its a spare that people who 'tour' will keep on board as the belt can be changed by the roadside.

If the belt breaks it will not do any damage to the engine/.
It could however, do serious damage to your health if it breaks when you are doing 70 or 80 mph in the fast lane of a motorway. and you suddenly find yourself without power.

I can confirm that a broken belt does not damage the engine.
Guess why I know...

Yes not a disaster if it goes when on the move , and can also confirm I found it a struggle to put a new belt on.
You also need timing pins to align the pulleys , do not attempt without.

and that modified socket that S&S sold as a tool to release the belt tensioner sure is nice.
