It was last day for 2nd class Christmas posting on Saturday. I decided to drive The Special the two miles to the sorting office postbox. It actually took a further 23 miles to get home afterwards. Heh heh.
I’ve done 800 miles in it since mid October. Over 500 on the motorways and the rest on local lanes. At last I feel I really understand how to get the best out of the car, from the steering to the gearing, throttle down and braking………. and how best to avoid the potholes.
It’s GGGGRRRRREAT !!!!!! But then you all knew that already!

Excellent, glad to see you're driving all year round and not keeping it ticked up in a garage permanently over the winter.

Excellent Jim, great to hear!

I had a run out to Winchester and back last week returning via Merrow near Guidlford and on the last leg to home spotted anoth M3W ahead of me! Never expected to see another on the road whilst out in mine! Anyway, followed and caught up and had a good chat. Another local car! So if we get a good weather day over Christmas break how about a run out as a group? Covid allowing of course!

I dont find an M3W much fun on a motorway, dual carriageways are a bit better. Unless in a hurry I try to avoid both. Nearest motorway is 90miles away. During the first lockdown I alternated with the Mustang to get to supermarket, its 6 miles there & 12 miles back.
I collected mine on 9/10/2013, on 13th at 272 miles it went back to Revolutions on a flatbed with pushrod failure & collected a week later. On 21/11 it went for its first service at 899 miles, it suffered oil from breathe dumped into the intake, clouds of white smoke.

Two days ago I took out the Blau Beastie for a nice run. Weather was good but the roads hadn't dried out enough. Misting on the windshield when traffic tightened up and later a few dirty spots that gave way to dirty mud streaks on the sides and mufflers. Still fun. A fun way to keep the battery up. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

......but the roads hadn't dried out enough......

Yes I learnt about out 3 wheeler handling on my run out. Was on my way to Winchester as mentioned above, and the A31 opened up onto a dual carriageway so off I go only to come upon a damper patch of road on a gentle downhill bend and suffered a bit of understeer which turned into a bit of oversteer. Not huge amounts and no harm done but a lesson learnt to be careful if damp. Didn't put me off going to the new years day Phoenix pub car meet at Phoenuix Green. Another lovely run out and huge numbes of cars to look at on arrival. Brought the A30 to a standstill!

Was that the infamous bend as you leave Four Marks ? Many a car ended up in the ditch there. It looks so innocent but everyone is accelerating down the hill and round the bend. Little bit of grease there and off they go. You did well to save it if this is the same place.

I know it well, that bend always makes the old sphincter tighten in winter conditions. I went out just before Christmas and got absolutely plastered in salt. scared
