Ebetec, can you tell me more about the oil cooler fitment and effectiveness? How does it fit to the oil tank?

Unless you are planning a lot of M3W trips to very hot places Landy you won't need an oil cooler, certainly not in the UK. If you fit an oil temperature gauge you will find the oil is usually too cool if anything. The max I have seen is about 115c and that was in +30c ambient.

Thanks Planenut, Where does your oil temp sensor take its reading? Been thinking about fitting temp gauge to see what the oil is doing.

It's a SPA kit dual indicator with oil pressure and temperature. There is a sandwich plate for the two sensors between the engine and the oil filter. I think that with the Urban Cooling Kit fitted an oil cooler is not required, in the UK at least. Unless you get ambient temperatures well over 30c frequently the oil temperature stays within a reasonable range. Getting up to temperature, particularly in winter months, is a problem with lots of water condensate in the oil system. You need to get the oil up to 100c occasionally to get the moisture out of it. There is an article about fitting the SPA kit on the MTWC website.

Hello,
the oil cooler is from aliexpress for 60,-USD, it is very easy connected to output oil path.
Oil is cooling engine and need to be cooled I think.
Filter cover is a self work, produced and polished by hand :-)

I would agree with the oil cooler. Here in the states (well some states) we can have really hot days. But if you live where it is more temperate, it is not needed.

Filter cover is a self work, produced and polished by hand :-) Unless you live in Death Valley I would be concerned that an oil cooler connected directly to the engine oil pipes without a thermostat bypass system will not allow the oil to heat up to the required temperatures or at least will take considerably longer to do so. It is probably not good even in Death Valley. Oil coolers are good for when it gets hot and in hot States but the engine needs to get the oil to maximum running temperature as quickly as possible before the cooler kicks in.

I'm sitting here 100 miles from Death valley, and I'm sure even round here you will want a thermostat in the oil cooler path, the high today is 56 degrees F (13 C). Great driving weather, but no risk of overheating!
I have Morgan Custom's oil cooler for summer driving, this includes a mechanical thermostat so that it only kicks in when needed.
