I claim this as my Dragons' Den moment -- although somebody probably had the idea before me.
I thought my spokes were clean, but I have made a better job using a piece of cotton pyjama cord (OK I had to buy some online). Gets into all those unreachable "crooks and nannies", and saves tearing-up long thin strips of rag. (Annoyingly the flash highlights the micro-scratches on the s/s rims).

Why not simoly use some shoestrings? Sneaker shoestring look very much usable - imho

Mequiars have been selling the same for cleaning spokes for years !

The stuff I used is about 3 times as wide and twice as thick as sneaker laces. And I'd wager is less expensive than anything sold by Meguiars !
And I do have a set of detailing brushes (the ones like bottle brushes, only non-scratch) for routine cleaning.
Still, I shan't now be writing to Dragons' Den.

Finish Line Gear Floss sells for $6.99. The 20 inch cord comes impregnated with cleaners is a microfibre rope so is scratch resistant and picks up the dirt, there are 5 cords in a box.

That product looks pretty unbeatable. Online in the UK they are sold in packs of 20 pieces each 20" long. Although maybe a bit skinny for spokes ?
(And I won't even mention the pet-ear giant cotton buds I use for detailing the engine....)

Fine scratches in stainless rims are a pain, made me steer onto alloys for the latest Mog

Just before entering a concours in the previous Roadster I did some serious prep including deciding to bling the stainless wheels, it involved having the tyres popped off and then spending two days power buffing with proper compound sticks and then hand polishing all the spokes & twiddly bits

What I find particularly annoying is how difficult it seems to be, to bring stainless up to "as new" appearance (I can get good results with alloys / mag wheels).
At close but not macro-distances, my s/s rims and bumpers look good enough to keep me happy, but not good enough for concours if that was my intention.
Maybe my technique needs improving, or the products / equipment I use.

(And before anyone says my calipers are in the wrong position, I rotated the photo to fit; and similarly the luggage rack is not about a foot too far over to the left, it's the angle of the shot.....)

Crikey I have stumbled across the concours club, to me life is too short for cleaning wire wheels ...

There are worse things to stumble across (or into)....
In the early 1990s I was a judge for the National Motor Museum (Beaulieu) Concours events. Some of the fun elements included checking with a torch and mirror behind the pedals to make sure there was no dust, ensuring the pile on carpets all faced the same way, and that there were no blades of grass in the tyre treads. After a couple of seasons I kinda gave up as I echoed your views about life being (a bit) too short, and besides I couldn't afford the therapy. But the bug had bitten, so I do like all my screw heads to line-up, clean the inside of the door locks and the petrol filler cap, and I carry a clothes brush in the car to keep the hood looking pristine.
