Has anyone refurbed Morgan’s own Centerlock alloy wheels, as fitted to the Plus 8 around 1997? I am thinking of changing the colour from factory silver to something slightly darker - Gray metallic or anthracite (I think that’s a colour). The car is BRG with red leather. Any and all comments welcomed - especially concerning problems, pitfalls, and unpleasant surprises. Many thanks, Nick 55

I've not had mine done but a while back SimonH wrote a piece on here about the process he uses.

Always fancied a set of centrelocks, but re colour, the standard alloys on my Plus 8 are painted BRG to match the body, and I think the car looks great - but then I would say that wouldn't I !!!

I can recommend GKL powder coating adjacent to Snetterton race circuit. They specialise in wheel finishes and have an adjacent blasting service for prep. Turnaround is typically a week. I have had engine, wheel and body components treated by them on both my previous M3W and current Roadster.

So how about taking the opportunity and changing the alloys to red to match the upholstery ? Could look good with the BRG bodywork paint; I can only just about handle Photoshop but can anyone offer a CGI preview of that ?

I have been thinking of doing exactly the same. I have a red plus 8 with the standard silver coloured centre locks. I have considered a black chrome or a black gloss. You may have notice a plus 8 for sale with Melvyn Rutter, it is green with centre locks. These have been painted body colour, with a special touch. The embossing on the wheel, ie CENTRE LOCK ALLOY and MORGAN MOTOR COMPANY have been painted in a contrast. i have noticed how good these dark colours look on alloys on the new Plus 6 and Plus 4, so maybe it will work for the older generation of wheels.

Just bear in mind that full gloss black comes out with (to my mind) a silk effect when choosing powder coat finish. As below but exactly what I wished for fortunately. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/os5ASuI.jpg)

Thanks everyone - some useful tips there. Will put up some ‘before and after’ photos in due course.
