This is the sort of nonsense that is currently going on that grinds my gears whilst the government targets the road users doh

That's not unknown in Yorkshire.

Somebody I worked with in the seventies had an electric meter in a cupboard in the hall with a rotating disc behind glass, remember those?
He discovered if he unscrewed it from the wall and laid it across the hall floor, the disc slowed right down.
He put it back for the meter man.

Also in the 70s, many old style gas meters had a steel vane.. put a big magnet on the case and the vane stopped..but the gas flowed.
For the electricity meter if the input and output were reversed the meter unwound..i'm told...

If you flip a gas meters connections (highly dangerous & illegal) it will run backwards, hence they now install with a metal bridge bracket across the top & a lead tamper seal

A sparky once commented that my old spinning disc leccy meter was highly valued because if we had solar PV it would wind the meter back in summer

Another trick was to drill a minute hole in the bakelite side and poke something against the disc to slow it

The snag is that of course it's spotted very quickly and unless you can provide decent data from your panels they try and bill you on an estimate based on your average expected consumption for the period without solar panels. It took me a good few weeks back and forth between the meter operator and the supplier to get an accurate bil for the period between getting the panels installed and having a smart meter.

Thank goodness for Solar Edge kit, if anyone is thinking of getting panels I highly recommend their inverters and control systems.

‘Ghost flights’ may have had low passenger numbers but were probably carrying freight. PPE and other essential items to keep this country going in the covid troubles.

Absolutely, passenger flights normally carry non passenger freight even when full of passengers and with the worldwide logistics issues, I'm sure it has been a major source of revenue during these difficult times.

A friend of mine who works for a major US airline was redeployed from passenger flight management early on in covid for exactly this. Logistics of optimising freight movements.
