And I think that would be the way to go. As the door is slammed shut that pin takes quite a shock load.

Tomorrow I‘ll dremel the mushroom off, than cut a M5 in. After this work I try to clue it in with LOCTITE and also fix it with a screw.

I think/ hope this will work and is strong enough, but also flexible for the „closing bang“.

And order a bargain as a spare for the tooltray.

Against my last post I choose another way.

I‘ ve ordered an original LandRover doorstrikerplate at the local dealer. This morning I‘ve got the call: you can collect it.
I put my MOGpart from the shelf and a short drive to the dealer. But as we say in Germany „long faces at both sides“…
1) the rubber at the top is about 3mm thicker than the original. Could be changed
2) the holes to fix it at the body where MUCH smaller. Could be changed.
3) the angle of the „mushroom“ is a little different to the original. Could be changed.
4) the Landy spare today was darkgray, in difference to the zincplated MOG and another Landypart I know about. Couldn‘t changed.

For about 70,— EUR I leave the dealer without the doorstrikerplate.

At the way home I remember the words here about to bend alloy. Bigger hammer and brute.

After the first try with an usual 500gr. hammer and an old chisel I switch over to some numbers bigger.
5KG „Fäustel“ and a punch. After two or three fearless hits the mushroom is fixed.

Repaired.

And with „German Angst“ (loosing my wife by a suddenly opening door) I‘ ve got a cheap Britpart one in the tooltray.
The Britpart thing is so different you don‘t want it.

The Britpart wasn‘t testfitted until now and I think about a „repairpart“. If there is something new I‘ll post it (as always in the past)

I have a similar situation with the pin - mine is a 2019 build, Rene has a 2018. I wonder if there was a bad batch supplied?

You will see from above that I have previously added a comment on this problem too. My car is a late 2018 model and I noticed slight looseness in the pin on my driver’s door stricker.

As a first attempt I tried a non invasive approach. I wicked some Loctite 243 into the small gap around the pin and allowed it to be drawn in by capillary action. Left it overnight and the next morning it was solid. Some months later the pin is still solid, no looseness. Granted, this solution may not be permanent in the longer term and I may eventually have to remove and replace / repair the stricker, but for two minutes effort the non invasive method was worthwhile for me. Passenger side door is okay by the way but of course gets less use and may eventually show some slight play eventually. If it does I will turn to Loctite in the first instance.

Thanks for the information Harry, I'll try that method first.
My one has failed on the passenger side so I will tell the missed not to slam the door so hard (when I'm not opening and shutting it for her of course).

How much has it failed by, i.e. is it really “wiggly” or, like mine, a slightly loose feeling when jiggled?
