Never seen the attraction of a Brough myself
They are the ultimate in bitsa's- JAP and Matchless engines, Sturmey Archer gearboxes, Enfield wheels, Castle and Druid forks and a spring frame which was built under the Bentley and Draper patent.
I've a dining room full of British bikes; Velocette KSS, New Imperial (from 1921 to 1939)and Ivory Calthorpe. I had a Scott Flying Squirrel for a bit but couldn't get on with it. My get round to it one day project is a 1951 Douglas 90 Plus with extensive Manx Grand Prix history

Well, if that's your criticism of Brough Superior, then it's the same with Morgan. They also buy in the essential components.

Well, if that's your criticism of Brough Superior, then it's the same with Morgan. They also buy in the essential components. Think about it Jens, Morgans were marketed as a sports car for the impecunious. Buying in components was a way of keeping the costs down. Brough Superiors were marketed as the 'Rolls Royce of Motorcycles" and are nothing but an assembly of bought in parts Arwyn

Brough Superiors were marketed as the 'Rolls Royce of Motorcycles" and are nothing but an assembly of bought in parts Arwyn Hmm. Bugatti are upmarked but use VW bits like engines as does Bentley. Aston uses Merc, Rolls uses BMW bits. Only Ferrari make their own engines but until not that long ago they never made the bodies. And many Porkers are badge engineerd VW. Quite a few bike makers have used Rotrax and some upmarket Italians have used Honda.
