Hi everyone,

I'm restoring a 1953 Interim Cowl and need a bit of help. Its a full nut and bolt job and trying to get it as close to factory original as possible.

Does anyone have any photos of the original engine/carb configuration that would help ? I'd particularly like to see what the original air filter would have looked like.

Pls could you email photos to me at alangleypoole@hotmail.com

FYI, the part restored car will be on the MSCC stand at the Classic RTestoration show on 18-20 March at the NEC.

Thanks

PS, I'm also missing a windscreen frame in case anyone has one: I understand that it should be a folding type similar to the earlier flat-rads.

Unless I am mistaken I don't believe they had air filters. My 54 bonnet was modified to accept small air filters. Would you like pictures of the engine compartment?

I think that it depends upon the engine, The TR2 engine had twin carbs and no filters, but the Vanguard engine (might have) had a single carb with filter.

The book Original Morgan 4/4, Plus4 and Plus 8 by John Worrall & Liz Turner is a photographic and descriptive guide as to the original specification of Morgans 1936- 1985, and could be of interest..?

Thanks everyone. Mine has the original Vanguard engine and single downdraft carb - I've seen some fuzzy pictures of a flattish pancake filter but looking for a clear shot so that I can source one.

I might have parts of an Vanguard air filter assembly which has come with my 1955 Plus 4 4 str Drop Head Coupe.

I'm fitting a TR engine to it so they are surplus to requirements.
