I've just installed some new clear indicator lenses to the rear of my morgan as for some reason the previous owner had only replaced the front ones with clear lenses.

I was in wilkos earlier today and saw some orange bulbs so got them prior to installing them.

However, as can be seen from the below image, the bayonet lugs are off centre. I've went onto wilkos website and seen an image of a clear bulb, also with the same off centre lugs. I can't see the why such a thing should be in existsnce. Surely that would mean it might sit off centre when installed. Needless to say, it wouldn't fit properly, so luckily I had some spares.

It's done so a clear bulb cannot be put into a holder that has an orange lens which has been changed to clear. I had the same problem but the correct orange bulbs are available.

Yep - when a manufacturer uses orange bulbs/clear lens, they usually have offset pins to prevent people putting clear bulbs behind a clear lens.

If you are converting orange lens indicators to clear lens you need to find orange bulbs with opposite pins. I use 'chrome' bulbs - they are silver in appearance but light up orange - it avoids the 'fried egg' look.

Amber Offset Bulbs usually have the code 581, Amber Straight Bulbs are 382.

Well that does make sense. Yes, the code 581 is on the packaging. Best get some spares ordered.
Much prefer the clear lens look. Thanks guys!

There are many bayonet car bulb base variants, see here. Single filament with the common 15mm base are BA15s or 382 and dual filament (stop/tail) bulbs BAY15d or 380 on most Classic Mogs. Obviously the wattage has to be correct for purpose as well in the case of filament bulbs.

An alternate to orange filament indicator bulbs are no hyperflash amber LED's which won't affect the flash rate.

ETA: note that 581 type although single filament have radially offfset pins so won't fit. You need 382 type as above.

Think I'll order from the place Richard and John suggest. Guess with them being LED, they'll last longer.

I fitted clear lenses to the front only I thought clear lenses on the rear looked odd.

Bought some. Pricey, but if it means I have to change them less its a bonus as those little brass connectors that keep getting pushed into the base plate are annoying 😂
