I put Tarka's Winter boots on this morning.
Off with the wonderful AeroMax wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres
On with the dull "Dunlop" style wheels shod with Michelin Cross Climate tyres.
Wheels and tyres don't get any lighter or am I just becoming oldgit?

They don't look as good, but the grip on cold wet roads is something else.
Various web reviews put the new Cross Climate 2 tyres out in front of all others when used on UK winter roads.

On a Morgan with no traction control, other than a LSD and ABS I think the car needs all the grip it can have.
Insurance company informed.

I'll go out for a run this afternoon to check the wheel nut torque and tyre pressures.

I didn't want to make any extra holes in the dash so I used a bit of scrap aluminium bar, bent it to roughly the contour of the dash, removed the tonneau cover stud (which I never use) and fixed the aly strip using a slightly longer bolt. The strip went under the rear view mirror which acts as an additional securing plate. I found a self adhesive ball mount on eBay for a fiver which is metal rather than the plastic one that came with the Garmin. It's stayed fixed in place for several days now so looks like the adhesive on the ball mount is plenty strong enough. I now have unobstructed vision through the windscreen and can see the SATNAV easily, Although it doesn't look like it in the photos I can see all of the instruments easily. Five quid and an hour of my time (could have been less but I buffed the aly strip) and I'm very happy with the result.

Giving the MOG its usual clean and detail but I did have some help from Finn, the family cat who loves to help and sleep on the driver's seat while I work in the garage.

In my view every Mog should have a resident Mog .... mine gets a daily inspection from Oceloon (she has spots like an Ocelot and a stripey tail like a Racoon hence the name) .... and she's watched me like a hawk during the rebuild .... nice not to worry about mice getting at the wiring 🙂

Lovely cat you have

Well, three and a half years and the front valance was peppered with stone chips despite PP film, a full flat down & some rattle cans, after making a little hot booth in the shed, prime, undercoat, two topcoats and finally today two gloss lacquer

Can't decide whether to apply PP film again

A bit more bodging grin2

Despite having well oiled rear springs they both squeak. The squeak or creak comes from the tightly clamped leafs right next to the u-bolts where any lube seem reluctant to penetrate. Backing off the u-bolt torque will stop it but obviously that’s not a solution so today I’ve knocked up a greaser.

I’ve seen antique leaf spring greasers before but they are usually too big for the tight space in a mog. This one is bodged up from a butchered g-clamp, a bolt and a hardened tool steel spike.

A quick 2 minute test out this evening but I think a rainy day job to methodically work through both springs.....
