My brother has a 4/4 2013 Sport, without spare wheel. He has this very practical box under the rear panel to store his side screens. I have a 2014 4/4 with spare wheel and easyup top, but I would like very much to have a box like my brother's. Did someone in the Morgan community tried to mount such a box in a Morgan like mine? I looked at the possibilities but hesitated because of the possible alterations on the devices connected to the fuel system (filter, pump etc.) and the spare wheel fixtures. Maybe I would also need an other, smaller fuel tank (current one is 50 ltrs). I am just curious whether it is possible.

My suggestion would be to look at the possibility of installing a luggage rack with the facility of storing the side screens. Not all racks have this facility so that would need checking out. Installing some kind of box, presumably under the rear spare wheel panel, would be very difficult and I haven’t heard of this being done on a car with a spare wheel - stand to be corrected on this though.

I made a box to fit under the spare, which I reach from inside the car, BUT!!! I moved the spare tire wood frame up to just below the rear body panel so the spare basically sits full height above
the panel. It's not too noticeable as I also have a luggage rack. as well. S/screens fit into this wedge shaped box. There is just enough room for the screens as the box is very small at the tapered end as I have a 4 seater fuel tank in the car.
The box is not centered as it's biased to the right to clear the fuel filler hose.
This is on my "63 4/4 2 str.

I made a couple of vinyl bags to fit the sidescreens which slide into the rear slot on my 2010 4/4 sport. about £10 for the material and velcro closures.

I would never embark on such a project. Far too invasive, far too difficult and also probably far to expensive. The obvious solution (at least to me) would be a luggage rackon top of the spare wheel, with storage for a sidescreen bag. This is what most people are using, functional and low-tech, but not exactly cheap either. There are various providers, and when yout car is from 2014, it should be easy to find one. There are several models however, depending on if your car has full bumpers, overriders or no bumpers. I suppose you already are aware of the possibility of storing the screens (with or without the bag) on the luggage shelf behind the seats. Just enough space.

The very early Aero S4 based Plus 8's had a side screen storage box: it was discontinued quickly as, I understand, screens tended to rattle and also jam in the letterbox slot.
Our Roadster had a side screen storage slot in the rear rack, again it was not as useful as it appeared for just the same reasons.
On the Plus 8 I either leave the screens at home, or put behind the seats.

Hmm... I have a plus 4 sport with the internal boot. Although shallow it is useful. However I think you need to look at the measurements at the top where it meets the parcel shelf. The sport has a fixed shelf and no tool tray. I tried to fit a second hand tool tray under the fixed shelf, and it was too "long" (Ie front to back) so reverted to fixing it back down and foregoing the tray.

As I understand it, the interior storage slot for the side screens on the sport can not be had when a spare is in place as the inners of the body are different. The support for the spare eats into where the storage box is.

Everybody thanks for the replies. As I expected the conversion is too difficult and probably too expensive. The luggage rack is not an option for me, because the one with the side screens storage I think is too high and doesn't look good. On my Plus 8, I made a smaller, shallow box, which made it possible to move the side screens further back on the shelf behind the seats. I think I stick to storing the side screens on the shelf behind the seats. That's not a problem on short trips but on holidays (3-4 weeks) we have more luggage, which sits quite high behind the seats and makes closing the tonneau difficult. Thanks again for the replies and I will look for another project for the Morgan.

I agree that the luggage rack with the side screen storage is high, slightly disproportional and doesn't look good. In fact, the car looks best with no rack at all. But luggage is a must. Why don't you try to get a rack without the screen storage ( if you still can get them)? It looks much better. It does not take many minutes to fit or take off, so you can leave it at home for everyday use or short trips and fit it for longer trips when you need the luggage space - in both cases storing the screens behind the seats.
