Hi folks...got an unusual question here.

I want to swap the steel wheels on a 1963 plus 4 for wires. I happen to have the black 15" sport wires off a 2012 Roadster, as well as the rear wheel hubs. The Roadster's BTR axle APPEARS at a glance to use the same taper as on my 1982 plus 8, so I thought the wire hubs might just fit the 7HA on the plus 4. Just because it's a bit of a pain to get hubs off to have a look, could someone enlighten me as to whether the BTR Roadster wire wheel hubs will fit on a 7HA axle of 1963? Of course, the message here might be a bit garbled so I will try to clarify things.



An additional question: do the 1982 plus 8 rear wheel hubs fit the BTR axle? That is all about keeping a Roadster BTR axle as a spare in case my 7HA dies. The axle has no hubs.

The Roadster BTR axle is wide. Have you measured and compared to your original?

Are you changing the wings? because the Roadster on wires has wide wings to cover the wheels.

Hi Dave If I keep the BTR axle I would use the alloy wheel hubs from my 7HA and my existing wheels. I know the wire wheeled Roadster uses wider rear wings. I'm not planning on putting wires on my plus 8. The black sport wires look terrific but I decided it's too much work, even though I do have the wider wings needed.

I've got all the wires & running gear from a 2012 Roadster and was wondering about using it on a 1963 plus 4. The rear axle is not suitable because of its width and ratio, but the Roadster rear wire wheel hubs MIGHT fit the 7HA from the early car. I've heard that the 7HA evolved over time (Imperial/Metric measurements?) so there could be problems

Brand new 7HA wire wheel hubs are readily available and reasonably priced too - less than £125 each when I last bought a set.
