That's topical Richard, we've just got back from a trip to Pembrokeshire staying in a friends holiday home. Deidre (Mark) Drakeford has recently announced that 2nd homes in Wales will attract 300% Council tax if not occupied for a significantly large part of the year. So no change there then!!

Interesting David, this covers a bit of that and is coming to Cornwall soon mind you I think 300% is a bit much really.

So will the owners be appropriately fined for creating all that pollutuion (whatever caused it) ?? Seems like way more than all the emissions from all the cars I've ever driven anywhere in the past 50+ years and am likely to for the rest of my life.

The nine tonnes of diesel onboard discharging into the harbour will create more damage tbh.

Of course they won’t be fined for air pollution, anymore than you would if your house burnt down. However their insurance will have to stump up for the salvage and pollution clean up cost. It’s likely that the gel coat on nearby boats would be damaged from the fumes and getting paid for that will be down to proving liability.

The way that fire spread so quickly does make me wonder if there was some "accelerant" involved.

You can be sure of a thorough investigation at 6M, they did have the rear screens on the aft deck deployed so they should be covered
