Agreed that the Roadster is a great car, I had a short ride in JJR's 3.7 as a passenger and it taught me enough to know that I'd get into horrible trouble if I had one.

ISTR the early cars had something of a ground clearance problem, was that sorted in the later versions?

The 3.0 litres all have the same sump design. It can be improved by spacing the engine mountings by a few mm.

The lowest point is to the right of the centreline, and as long as you remember that it isn't much of a problem.

I've only knocked mine once at the British Legion car park in Bourton on the Water, which has a nasty full with flat topped bump on the exit with a drop which just matches the ground clearance. So because the front axle is ahead of the sump, dropping down is always riskier then going up.

Coming late to this topic, I need to say a word for our Series 2 Roadster 100. And what a fantastic script badge.

Not a bad accolade for the Morgan Roadster to be the chosen model to select for the Centenary Limited Edition. 57 of 100 built, identical in Amazon Green.

I have only ever driven two Morgans, our original 4/4 and the R100.
Believe it or not, I never even test drove it before purchasing new and, barring our early Sump collision, I have enjoyed every minute of its 21k+ miles.
There is nothing I would change and have no desire to look at other models or colours.

I was once given a fast ride in a Series 1 and found the ride to be very smooth with a feel quite different to ours. When fitting gaiters for the owner I found that
his springs were much fatter than mine.

Even my two years older very smooth 3ltr S Type Jag, with its Electronic Valve varying gismo is an absolute pleasure but the R100 experience is totally out on
its own.

I noted, while watching an episode of Wheeler Dealers, they were working on a Noble with the same block & sump as ours. The Twin Turbo's fitted to it would make for an interesting engine swap, if that sort of thing floats your boat.

John V6 will remember Amersham Hill heading for Beaconsfield. My greatest pleasure was to give her full welly going up there in the overtaking lane. There is
nothing wrong with the series 2 performance for me, even after her 12 years. of age..... Frank....

My S1 had loads of scrapes in the sump so I swopped it out for a Mulfab jobbie just to be safe

Current 3.7 looks factory fresh underneath & as I drive the same roads it must have more clearance, however I have caught the crossmember a few times

I had to source a part last year for a pals 3.7 who was quoted £600 ish, we got a genuine Fomoco one special import within 10 days and collected it from Hull with change from £200

I have had not much luck sourcing engine parts in UK for the 3.7 Cyclone engine as its not a European engine except for imported mustangs / ginetta / noble & morgan.

Have tried Power Torque but no response - who did you find that would at least listen ?

Depends what you are trying to source ?

Not surprised at Power Torque, very poor despite being the official importer of Ford crated engines, they are a complete waste of time & oxygen and should be ashamed.

On a positive note, Cain at Wolf Performance did purchase some of the factory's spares stock when production of Roadsters ceased
