Morning all,

Yesterday I had yet another opened/empty package delivered by Hermes (now EVRI) this is the third time this has happened now.
It can only be stollen during transit as I can't see the retailer sending out an empty package!

Yesterday it was left on my doorstep opened and empty, as luck would have it I was home and flagged down the driver, when I asked where the contents were and why did you deliver just an empty package the language barrier was brought into play.
I tried to ask why this wasn't discovered long before delivery, perhaps when it was being sorted at the hubs the language barrier came into play once again.

When I tried to contact EVRI to tell them that they were employing thieves it is impossible to find a phone number or to talk to a human being!

Is it that i'm just that unlucky or has this happened to you?

I feel your pain - I sold a distributor on Ebay - buyer asked for next day. Used EVRI Next Day. Dropped it off Wednesday at 3.30pm, expecting delivery on Friday. Still not arrived.

Have refunded the buyer and apologised - made several attempts to contact EVRI by Email, Facebook, Phone and Live Chat but so far failed on all eforts.

My wife ordered some expensive knitting 'stuff' where the package had been opened and 90% removed by Hermes, she sent photos and eventually the retailer repeated the order, we have suffered Hermes deliveries dumped behind bins in the pouring rain and damaged goods, etc

I now ask the seller or retailer which carrier they use & either pay a little more for an alternative or cancel the order, explaining why, this way if the retailer is impacted perhaps they'll use a more reliable carrier

Royal mail and Parcelforce can be as bad.

One of the TMers sent me a short length of plastic tube in an envelope by Royal Mail and when it arrived, it was opened, and just an empty envelope. Why anyone would steal a short length of plastic tube is beyond me.

Our local Parcelforce guy sneaks the card through the letterbox and dumps everything at the Post Office. He's known for doing that.

Conversely our local Hermes man is very reliable, always stops for a chat, knows everyone in the village & enjoys his job!

As is mine, but she's the last link in a very ineffective chain.

Not withstanding how good and helpful the Hermes delivery driver is, the unanswered question remains 'why would you deliver an obviously opened and empty package'?
It would be a sight more helpful if they didn't deliver it and returned it to the depot reporting the problem on our behalf.

Unless he swiped the contents himself, by delivering it empty in his simplistic way he maybe thinks it shifts the blame around.

We have been very lucky in our small village and the Hermes man is known to all and vice versa - of course as mentioned this does not get around any hub misdemeanors.

It's a sad sign of the times and it is disappointing.
Correct me if I'm wrong?, but isn't this what eventually happens when you open up the market, squeeze everything to reduce costs to maximise profit to pay shareholders and/or directors !!!
No excuse for theft though. Soapbox comment maybe ?

I chatted to a DPD boy delivering to us and he was from Plymouth(35mls) and had 100 rural drops to do, I imagine they are on bare minimum wages too so there is no quick fix. Never had a problem with them either or Yodel.
