Very appealing given the degree of simplicity, practicality and proven reliability... It was the simplicity factor that attracted me to Morgans, the other two, not so much... smile

Though in fairness my old Mog has proven to be far more reliable than I ever expected it to be even in the heat of Italy or the snow in Scotland, and the heater is unlikely to injest exhaust fumes into the cabin, unlike an old Beetle..?

For simplicity it's Crossflow in my book .... not sure about the 'nicely built British Engineering' bit .. however in spite of their rough and ready rattles and clunks they're still running around quite happily 🙂

I am with you on the Crossflow thinking K, though as I have too often typed, it was the hoped for vintage driving experience that was the prime mover in my case having been so impressed by a LARGE engine roar of a vintage LM style Bentley as I followed down the side of Loch Tay... Thus a +8 it had to be, however it was touch and go between 4/4 and +8 until Lorne put me on to the Mog I now own.. I still look upon 4/4`s up to and including CVH engined types with a degree of contemplation... As for the V8, I also liked the American linkage aspects too.

Richard, I note the example you provided may be considered an improvement over my later +8, in terms of it`s basic spec, it has the smaller diameter wheels with larger sidewall tyres that may better match the..err.. limitations of the Trads suspension design, although taking a tad longer to respond to steering input and settle into a corner when pressing on? My later car with larger wheel and lower tyre aspect ratio tyre set-up is likely to have more direct steering and a smidge harder ride..?

Another aspect of the older Morgan you posted the link to Richard is that it is likely (unless modified) to have the prettier and easier polished SU carbs, and a choke cable, as opposed to the electronic choke on the less attractive Strombergs fitted to my Mog..

The KISS principle works better for this grumpy old man... oldgit laugh2

I'll second that. Plentiful supply of goodies and enough power to keep up with most tintops. And with the 5spd, if I'm feeling lazy I can keep her in top and she'll pull from 1000rpm.

Thanks chaps for the helpful input. Plentiful supply of goodies and enough power to keep up with most tintops sounds good. So I can feel my second Morgan coming on, might take a bit of searching to find the right one. What fun !
