Currently have a shade temperature of 36C and it still rising by the hour. Not sure if we get the much-heralded 40C but it won't be far off.
Our daughter has just returned from a dance event in Plymouth and can't believe the temperature difference in London compared to the S West. Its all the hot air that is generated in London!

Bit warm here, but still got my suit jacket on, so not unbearable. Came to work in the Mog (aeroscreens) so much cooler journey home than the tintop.
Mind you, only 49% of kids have bothered to come in...... Is that sort of attendance typical of what you get when the kids have an excuse ( snow, heat etc) not to come in? If it is then no wonder we have the problems we have. Must be very dispiriting for the teachers. A neighbour is a teacher and she told me that during lockdown, when they offered lessons via the internet, they couldnt start them til 10 am because the kids were in bed and even afterwards fewer than half bothered to participate.

I know this is of no concern to you "Otter than the Chippies Frier" folk in good old Blighty, but we are into our third week of temperatures ranging from 35C to 42C and that is at 8600ft above sea level. We always have late afternoon thunderstorms that drop the temperature into the mid to high 20Cs and it drops further to around 16C at night, not long till the first snows arrive in October. Nothing whatsoever to do with the thread Bruce but I thought this was a good step in the right direction. All local reports are very positive in town Indeed it is Captain Oakley certainly has some great experience under her belt I am sure she will be an excellent Commander of the College and representative of the RN in town.

Worse today - had 4 out of 27 in my first GCSE class, and 5 out of 29 in my second. Penultimate day in school. so we were just doing 'catch up' so not too distruptive, but makes you wonder why I bothered doing a 25 mile drive in. Some parents let us know that it was due to heat, but many parents didn't bother. We also had to contact all the absentees as we needed to make sure they were at home, parents knew they were at home (not bunking) or that they hadn't gone astray on the way to school. School has 1900+ kids so admin staff couldn't do much else today. We get similar issues with snow (even though we have two snowploughs on site to keep it clear). Perhaps indicative of modern parenting? In lockdown we instigated a registration system, kids had to be logged on by 9.15am at the latest. We contacted parents if they weren't. We had about 90% attendance most days.

My solar batteries ordered in Oct 21 were due for installation (this was the 4th date) on Friday but they have cancelled again!! This time it seems they are in customs. Anyway I reckon till they arrive there will be sun & no rain in Suffolk. Are you having Tesla batteries? Mine are due around Sept / Oct, the last excuse was the Chinese factory being on lockdown. Back on thread, I decided to do our tax returns yesterday, might as well get sweaty when it’s hot. Some years ago I was driving a Peugeot 206 from Tunis to Sfax, it was 28C in Tunis and over the last 20 miles or so the temp gauge went up 1C every mile until it hit 50C. I didn’t believe it until I got out of the car. I think if the walnut sized ac comp in the car had packed up I’d have been toast. I went to check out a location for a new warehouse, fastest inspection I ever did.

Send some of that rain this way, please. Something else rather wonderful came our way this afternoon. Lady of the Wings spotted this Jersey Tiger Moth on one of our front windows. The lower set of wings are reddish-orange, lovely to see in flight (wingspan is approx 50mm). Not sure if they blow in from the Channel Islands, or we may have a tiny colony. We have kept a wild area in our garden which includes nettles, brambles and borage which apparently they enjoy. I did see one a couple of years back, but "it got away". [Note to self: our window cleaner's visit is well overdue !] ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/07/20/Tiger-Moth-3.jpg)

Not Tesla . I am having a 2 Pylon batteries to give a 4.8 kWh storage. From May - Oct we use roughly 3Kw per day so that should cover off that. They are coming from China & should have cleared customs on Mon but didn't
