Can someone describe how to remove the grey windscreen pillars on my Plus 4?
Is it just a case of undoing the countersunk allan screws or are the pillars bonded to the screen and or the scuttle?
I'm taking my wheels to the powder coater tomorrow and looking to have the screen pillars powder coated gloss black at the same time, so I'd like to remove them tonight if it’s not too much hassle?
Thanks in advance, Dave.

I haven't had the need to do this, but the upper fasteners hold the screen in place. So the theory is undo those. Note which goes where because they are different lengths. Then the screen and frame should lift out, once you've disconnected the 12v feed to the demister.
Then the remaining fasteners hold the A pillars onto the bulkhead. I think they have non captive nuts behind, so access is tight.

On the other hand if it's a simple job, I'll crack on a whip them off Thanks chaps

I had a new set fitted to mine back in 2019 at Ledgerwood's, old ones had corrosion bubbles on them and with entering concours competitions I felt that I had to change them, I received the old ones back and planned to have them stripped and power coated but still in my garage, one day I'll get round to it
I didn't feel confident enough to change them

....with entering concours competitions I felt that I had to change them Guess I'm just a saddo then. I removed the top 3 bolts (same length) each side to polish them and clean the holes with cotton buds to remove old wax. Can't quite figure why the 4th (lowest) bolt is longer. Oh and the prospect of pulling-out the screen and wrecking it was just so awful I left everything alone, despite yet another unidentified creak/squeak.

I had mine colour matched by Melvyn as they were bubbling, very pleased but the cost was eye watering.

For a while, Ledgerwoods did what appeared to be chromed pillars, but they corroded quickly as I recall, so were discontinued.
The finish on those pillars varies a lot. Some are a satin uniform grey. Some look like they are painted grey. My Roadster posts are close to a fine hammerite grey, and I'm unsure as to whether they came like that from new. It was only three years old when I bought it, with a folder full of invoices, but nothing about the screen posts.

On my 2004 roadster they corroded very quickly. The factory sent a new set but by then i had treated the existing ones. I think I still have the replacements somewhere. Nick
