Has anyone travelled to and around France in a 2 seat Morgan with a dog on the passengers lap and encountered any issues with the law?? Appreciate any thoughts / experiences.
Thanks Ron

A little planning and a suitable disguise should get you past the authorities. ![[Linked Image]](https://animalfair.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/depositphotos_12757496-French-dog-wine-baguete-beret.jpg)

I don't know how strict they are in France.
But as a preventive warning to anyone who wants to travel in Spain with his pet, if they catch you here with your dog unleashed / secured to a specific seat or in a cage, you're toasted: 100 € to 500 € fine.
They have no mercy. There is not a "Awwwnn he is so cute! OK, please be careful and next time secure him to the back seat or put him in a cage.".
It's more this style: "Good morning! Dog unleashed to a seat buckle and on the passenger's lap: 500 €. You're not Spanish, therefore you pay now with a credit card or cash. And you need to secure your pet right now. And if you don't pay and / or don't have any cage or specific harness for the pet to travel in this car, you have to leave the dog here or call someone to pick him up in a proper way. Until you do so, you can't continue your journey and your car will be immobilized".

I've not travelling to France with my dog and the MOG but do often take him with me in the car. For me at least, I would think twice about it as it's super easy for him/her to want to jump out and even with a harness and tether, my little guy gets too excited with all going on around him. More importantly, I have to plan when I take him around cooler days. With no AC and generally the cabin heating up slightly due to the design of the car, I found out quickly he got quite overheated quickly.
Perhaps put a cooling matt in the footwell if your dog fits there,
Good luck!

It’s not the law I would be worried about, it’s the wife I would be fighting and me and the dog would lose!

Perhaps send the dog via FedEx and meet it there. Just a thought
Why is there only one monopolies commission??

Just had conversation with my niece who lives in France. The police will not look happy on you with a dog on your lap! Think about it if you have an accident,! Even the rules in the U.K are clear a dog has to be restrained with a harness or caged. As the member says what happens in Spain the same will happen in France.

I fitted a securing point in the panel in front of the rear shelf. A harness is used to secure Monty in that shelf area. Never kept him in the front as I don’t consider it safe. Never done very long journeys the longest being about 100 miles round trip.

We were often on the road with our dog and had a massive eyelet installed for it, to which we secured the dog with a relatively short leash. We just returned from a big trip to France one week ago (3,200 km) and the eyelet was very useful for securing luggage (unfortunately our dog is no longer alive). ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/07/31/37EB2839-D777-4778-82FD-329F6BAB3664.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2019/05/06/cover.jpg)
