TonyCalo. My 2006 Plus 4 Duratec engine. Similar problem with Oil Guage.

When I posted the issue i got "Its a Morgan, some of them do that!".

My symptoms:

Start engine gauge fine.

Drive car Gauge fine.

After engine/oil gets hot, stop car, engine on tick-over the gauge beats its self to death flickering full range side to side. It flickers so hard and fast you can hear it hitting needle stops.

Cannot wait to see if you fix the problem.

good Luck

There are a few companies both side of the pond that offer repair services. Caerbont in Wales being one.

You can see from internals image above there are many possibilities to allow such a fault within pointer linkage. There should be some form of damping though which may have been compromised. The action of oil pump by its very nature will cause oil pressure to pulse though at low revs with hot oil.

Speedograph Richfield in Nottingham are another company that's been around forever, offering instrument repairs.

I have the gauge out.
But how do you access the internals?
do I just lever off the facia to access inside?

Could be a broken crank

TR engines are prone to them

Leave it alone and send it to an instrument mechanic.

The gauges fitted to the Plus 4 quadrant gauges are irreplaceable and don't lend them selves to home servicing.

Well I wasn't going to tamper just had a look and took some pics.
So I re assembled everything and when I started needle was solid at 55lb. But as she heats up she starts to vibrate again.
Seems a bit better but I think its just because there was air in the instrument and pipe now.
Once air is pushed out via the hole she will vibrate again.
But im thinking its still pretty reliable because it shows pressure on start up and while running albeit vibrating.

I will just give my wife a rag for her lap while driving hahahhaha

That's surprising.

Try Speedy Cables
