Just to brighten-up my day, why is it that the rear plinths are painted body colour and the front ones seem to be left black ? confused

Because the rear ones have to compensate for a greater angle hence are longer and would therefore look ugly unpainted.

Same reasoning for the rear-light/brake-light plinths. If I ever had any paintwork done it would include painting the front plinths. Just curious as some of the Photoshopped pics in the BHM ads in Miscellany show them "painted", and they do look more complete to me.

Metal front plinths were/are available. It may be difficult getting a durable finish on the rubber plinths.

Agreed, the rears are hard plastic, hence painted, the fronts are a softer rubbery plastic which will probably craze with age if painted

I have polished stainless steel plinths for mine, bought them at a Mog event, I think at Gaydon 2005 from one of the many dealer/parts stalls we used to have at Mog events.

Good to know that, they must look very cool. So why do the CX cars all seem to have the black rubbery ones ? Surely the new generation would have been a good break point.
