This video is annoying in that it doesn't show enough detail but from what you can see it could be a nice car and maybe offered before Tesla gets the Roadster 2 ready to sell.
The last time MG was revived, I bought an MGF 27 years ago. Well the car in the new video looks ordinary but nice, not ugly and nothing special. At first I thought it was still the youtube commercial for a new Mazda before the long awaited MG movie starts.
The European vide by Jens has 2036 in it, other videos and news reports mention 2024 to coincide with MG 100 years of manufacture (and lots of arguments whether it is still the same company). I hope 2024 is correct as it would be nice to see someone actually make an electric convertible soon. Morgan promised to produce an electric car by 2019 and now gone very quiet, Tesla has promised the next Roaster for longer than they sold the first one for.
MG---- " Might Go" If ever a brand was devalued then MG must be the number one candidate. All I ever see now are fugly SUV's and estate cars with that famous badge synically afixed to the rad grille.
I could imagine an owner of a new 'not an MG' going to an MG Owners Club meeting and finding they are not on the same wavelength as the owners of real MG's......."why are they all talking about spanners and grease guns?"
Must admit I don't like to see iconic brand names sold off pretty much in isolation to be stuck on cars and motorcycles that have no connection to their history .... even more pathetic is the companies who did no more than buy the badge, claiming the hundred year engineering heritage that didn't come with it as somehow their own.
I guess while while the Indian company was still producing Royal Enfields from the same tooling and design it made some sort of sense to keep the name .... but in most cases it seems that the administrators and asset strippers who control the dying days of famous companies just see the badge and history as another way to turn a bob or two out of the corpse .... even if the subsequent use in duping the uninformed that they're buying something they're not verges on fraud.
Conversely the Indians namely TATA have turned Jaguar into anonymous amorphous lumps which bear no resemblance to a classy car that they once were. The problem is with us all being old farts, the young people don't care and it's what they want to drive, no sense of history or class ..
