Are you sure it is a. hydraulic clutch?

The pipe might be the vacuum hose from the inlet manifold to the brake servo.

You can see the hydraulic pipe going down to the clutch master cylinder, just below the steering column UJ. The rings on the bellhousing suggest an MX5 gearbox, so the external slave cylinder will be low on the nearside.

I wasn't sure Dave if it had two brake feeds as the CX cars.

I would suggest if the owner isn't good at mechanics he takes it to the nearest local garage.

Looks to me as if it uses a common reservoir for both brakes and clutch. The pipe though is a mystery. What is that black steel pipe with a shoulder, sticking up and coming from the servo area. It looks as if a flexible pipe of some sort should slip onto it as far as the shoulder.
Agree with MX5 gearbox as it is the right age.
I am not convinced about poor fluid…although fluid discolours and absorbs water over time, if we go back to basics, all that a hydraulic system needs to work, (i.e. to transmit energy) is a fluid of some sort (without any air bubbles). Might be worth checking that the hydraulic line to the slave cylinder is not pinched or flattened along its route?
As far as riding the clutch, with the strong springing on a Morgan clutch pedal, think you would need extremely heavy feet to cause clutch damage by resting your foot on the pedal.

I think it is the vacuum line for the brake server& will connect onto the black steel pipe but also somewhere on the inlet manifold.

The split white plastic pipe is still a mystery and doesn’t look very robust. Could it be a drain tube for the heater box possibly? We need someone with the sane model to comment on this one.

As per DeeJay I think it does fit onto that black pipe but from there don't see anywhere within the length of the pipe that it could conect to so possibly a breather pipe. It is an MX5 gearbox. As per John will book it into a garage to sort out as have it up for sale...having purchase an Aero S1. Have just been informed by the DVSA that all the series of cock ups regarding the VIN for my Aero are sorted so now taxed and can use it at last .

Simple test to check if brake servo is working. Sit in driver seat with foot continuously pressing on the brake pedal, whilst you start the engine. As soon as engine fires up, you should feel the brake pedal go down a little further. That proves that there is a secure vacuum connection to the manifold.

Just moved the plus 4 to put it in the garage and now the clutch is even better than before and takes much lower!!! . I can only assume this is connected to my opening the clutch fluid reservoir yesterday so maybe a pressure thing . Anyway having a great day now off to the Aero.
