My Series 5 has a Parrot car entertainment system, it might have been good when first designed (back in 2015 I think) but is now pretty outdated and no longer supported by Parrot. I would like to replace it but I can't work out how on earth to get the existing unit out of the car, I have a nasty feeling that it might need the dashboard to be removed. Does anyone know how to remove the Parrot or is there a specialist who has done this before somewhere, ideally in Beds/Bucks/Herts.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

No idea what this is, but if it's normal car radio format they usually require a pair of flat metal keys to release the internal anti-theft catches. With these inserted each side the unit is free to pull out. Maybe they're hidden in a safe place??

If it's the parrot asteriod 1din, looks like a jigsaw blade could make the trick. Originally it's a C shaped tool.

thanks for the reply but the old flat metal keys won't work on this unit which is a double DIN sized unit and its full name is Parrot Asteroid Smart (so not the asteroid 1DIN). There must be screws holding it in somewhere but how to access those screws?

If I understand the model correctly try this one.
https://www.parrot.com/assets/s3fs-public/2021-09/asteroid-smart_user-guide_uk.pdf

this is the user documentation for the device.
Page 10 shows the elements. There is a frame that installs to the back of the dash and the device fits into this.

I am looking at the Bluetooth Amps and using my phone as the total ICE stack at the moment. I am just going to leave the 2011 Alpine thing to fill the hole in the dash.
On the Coupe there is apparently a 4 channel amp under the passengers seat, so I would swap this out and link the iPhone up to in on BT.

I replaced my Parrot he’d unit with a Sony XAV-AX5650ANT head unit primarily as it was double din at the front but only single din at the rear and ai was not sure how much space was behind the dashboard. It also supports Apple car play etc. have had this unit in the car for a couple of years so far and am well pleased with it although DAB reception is not the best but I mostly stream the radio though my iPhone anyway and use TomTom on my iPhone as my sat nav.

Due to the way Morgan fitted the Parrot unit the dashboard does need to be moved to do the work. My unit was replaced by Ledgerwood Morgan but I believe Krazy horse has also upgraded a couple of Aeros

Thanks Alistair, you have correctly identified the beast!
The bluetooth amp is an interesting idea that I hadn't thought of, the down side is that it hasn't got a screen for sat nav etc.

Thanks - The Flitting, you have confirmed my fears that the dashboard needs to come off, what a pain, that probably means I have to use Morgan dealer, neither of the dealers mentioned are near me so will try Melvin Rutter next. Thanks again.
By the way, when the roof is down, how viewable is the screen on your Sony, with the Parrot the glare means the screen looks just like a mirror.
