Happy Birthday, Graham. Enjoy your day! cheers

A short trip last Sunday after reinstalling my open K&N air filter which I like so much for day trips to get all the willing revs out of it.
(For longer tours I take the standard airbox, which I always leave installed and quickly change the pipes and the MAF sensor positioning, otherwise it gets too loud for me:)

Might be my imagination, but Heinz that definitely looks greener than England's green (or is it beige!) and pleasant land !??

Thanks gents.
Be like driving in an oven today (not that I have any practical experience of same!) - just too hot.

It was the last evening sun in front of a grass field in the Eifel. Yes it is a beautiful area. Beige is unfortunately not such a false impression because some of the areas in the beautiful green is totally withered and dried out by the constantly shining sun, it no longer rains.

It was yesterday afternoon on the Fosse Way. Fortunately no hold ups.

I took my son with me on a short trip today. He's 21 years old, and what is euphemistically called a "student-athlete" here in the U.S. On reaching our small road on the return trip, I asked if he felt he might be ready for his initiation into The Society of the Clutch [insert the heavenly choir soundtrack here]. We swapped seats by the mailboxes at the entrance to the small road, and thus began his first lesson in The Defeat of the Millenial Anti-Theft Device.

My garage now smells of burnt clutch, and I got a nasty email from the differential. The lad has much to learn. So bloody much.

He'll be a proper driver though once he does it 🙂

Here in the UK if you pass your test on an auto you can't drive a manual on the road without retaking your test .... sadly, autos are becoming more and more common as younger driver seem less inclined to engage with the driving experience ... and less enamoured with cars in general .... they were freedon to us but just another consumer item to many now.

Seems they start later and later now. I have a nephew who didn't learn until mid twenties, his brother later still. I'd stripped down a six cylinder Austin engine from an old truck by the age of 14 and had mastered the clutch earlier still.

I tend to agree with automatics of the past being less than engaging, but many automatics today have paddle shifts etc that allow far more involvement in the gear selection than previously. I've never considered the lack of a clutch an impediment to enjoying driving a car, especially if you spend most of your time in urban commuter traffic, its actually a boon, Before cars it was bicycles that created that sense of independence.

I'm on the Klipsch audio forum from time to time. There you can provide the individual posts with smilies, thumbs up and trophies. Your post would have gotten something like that from me.
