A warning from your Celtic cousins to keep your orifices covered at all times... This applies to all of you that play with small dimpled balls btw innocent

Totally bonkers for many reasons.

Strangely, the featured green on the photo looks like plastic grass doh

The grass looks typical of how good greens are maintained.
As for filling the holes..... The holes are moved round greens on a regular basis so repairs are fairly straight forward. Weed killer would be devastating though.
The greens are a must water area and the rest is left to nature. Very few courses have sprinklers on the fairways and tees.
I played at Langland Bay on Gower last week on an awayday. Greens immaculate but fairways brown, hard, bare. Stunning views. Used my umbrella a few times to block the sun.
When our course was built about 30 years ago each green cost about £10k due to structure, drainage, soil, sprinklers. They are very high maintenance. Moles are a big problem sometimes but never on greens as the treatments to clear worms ( they leave casts you need to clean up) means they tend to stay away as no food there. One of our members is a molecatcher! He has caught dozens this year when in areas needing clearing. Left alone if out of the way.
Golf courses are commercial businesses and water is a resource. I wonder if car wash places get targeted? Garden centres? Food producers?

That's a lot of money, no wonder it's a knobs game down here in my neck of the woods, an extension of the Lodge members have told me wink

Interesting to hear about the greens.

I believe that Car washes now have to recycle all the water into filter tanks and re-use.

Over here we have been in a 5 year drought, I think we are heading towards the seventh year now, although the monsoon happened this year and we have had some good amounts. Our golf courses use recycled waste water for irrigation and the car washes have to collect the used water and recycle, we water our garden using the filtered grey water which we collect in a tank.

Tried golf once. Turned up at the golf pitch with my golf bats, hit the ball and lost the darned thing down a hole - I wouldn`t mind, but they put a flag in it to warn me it was there. hide
