I've just got the engine out to fit new rubber barrels to the Centa compensator - see my other thread

It was quite a struggle to get at the bellhousing bolts, but now I've managed it I'm starting to strip down to the compensator.

I've removed the clutch friction plate seems around half worn, but the pressure plate looks to have got quite warm....

I'm going to fit a new clutch, but before I order...and wait for Morgan parts dept...... has anyone on here fitted an aftermarket clutch?

If so, what was it?

Thanking you in anticipation

When I replaced the rubber centa I handed my first clutch disc which was in good condition because I found a damper spring broken, the clutch disc measures 181 mm the 22 splines of the standard meme as Ford Mondéo diesel or G50 porsche.

I was mistaken the 22 splines of the 5 speeds does not correspond to ford mondéo and G50 porsche, only the 23 splines of the boxes six gears mazda that correspond to ford and G50,My tw will have 60,000km.

That is odd. I talked to the shop that is the go to place out of Portland, Oregon and what they tell me the six speed has the same back end and fitting a updated six speed will slip right in.

The G50 is actually a transaxle type used by Porsche, and 911's from that era (late '80s perhaps into the early '90s, I think) are often referred to by the transaxle which was a desirable high capacity unit used in the Turbos, among others.

The G50 gearbox was first introduced in 1987 in the Carrera 3.2, only appeared in the last year of production in 1989 in the 930 turbo and then went onto use in all the 911's ie 964,993,996 and 997.
