Ken,
I doubt that the cold start mixture problem is a throttle sensor etc as it's only a problem when cold and the fact that (on my car at least) it is repeatable and what happens at 5 deg C is the same every time it’s 5 deg C.
Plugs – I thought these modern plugs did run at 50 thou gap? I know my Duratec did.

I've managed to find the boxes from my new bosch plugs which I fitted to the GDI last year and the data on the box says 36 thou. The Morgan handbook for my car says 40 to 50 thou.
So take your pick!!

If you run too large a gap on modern systems, it supposedly strains the coil packs leading to early mileage failures

I have since seen in a 2018 Ford Focus manual, (referring to coil-on-plug GDI engine) and it quotes 34 - 36 thou. So Cooperman may well be making a good point.

Hi , I had exactly the same issue and it was due to my ITG foam air filter: bad idle when cold and rough bellow 2500 rpm
I put back the origin paper air filter and no issue anymore.
Maybe it is not the same for you but it’s a 5 min test 😉

I considered the clubsport upgrade on my 110 edition plus 4 two years ago but Morgan would not install without changing the full exhaust to a clubsport system which would have cost circa £2300.
As the car was only a year old with the sports exhaust (from manifold back) I settled for an interim ecu upgrade (£300) which used existing components.
This has worked without any side issues and the engine drove smoother (surely not a placebo effect to justify the expenditure?).
I am certainly no expert but perhaps Morgan were correct in maintaining the need for a full component upgrade to their specification for the clubsport ecu to work effectively?

MMC would only do what they called the "enhancement flash" remap on my 2017 GDI +4, unless I had the full CS manifold, cat and box fitted. I decided that the extra/different noise profile was not what I wanted, so had the Librands (by Piper) manifold and bigger cat fitted and the performance is noticeably better ie more/smoother torque delivery, but more popping on overrun.

Following the remap it does hesitate a bit from cold and occasionally stalls, but a few blips and it settles down ok. It seems there is much variation in how GDIs behave!

Kenny just to let you know I have had the same problem. I have club sport remap ,Librands manifold and std exhaust. Last September I took just the ECU in to MMC and left it with them whilst I went away,on return collected it, refitted it and the car was like a bag of nails,it started but would not rev ,so the car was nearly undrivable. limped the car in to MMC as they said they would not look at the problem without the car,fair enough. They said the earths had to be done before they would touch it,? that cost £109, they took 5 hours trying to get the car to run,I could hear them from the service area, and they eventually handed it back saying try that.The car has more power but still has a flat spot around 2000 revs and will not pull that well in 5th up hill which it did before,so you have to change down, also fuel consumption has gone down from around 42 to 39 ,according, to the computer,I have lots of pops and bangs on overrun,and exhaust is black but not as bad as it was, and it needs more revs to really make it go,I am considering taking it back to the factory,but believe they made such a mess of it fist time round,I have little confidence in them getting it right. But untill you can try another car,you just dont know if its right or not
