Personally I think the cxt was just a vanity project, I've never seen one driven except in promo videos and I very much doubt any will have any decent mileage put on them, this will be shut away in someone's collection only to be flipped again in two or three years

Naively, one might think that the better something is, the more beautiful our enjoyment of it is, but often it is the change from a utilitarian object to an icon. A Chateau Petrus that no one drinks, a Morgan CXT that no one drives (even though it looks so robust), a Daytona Rolex that could get scratched, All the nicer that there are some patrons who make sure that a Stradivari is played by young artists and that it doesn't rot. If money is no object, why not have two CXTs. One to drive and enjoy all the time, the other to stow away as a (possibly increasing) object of value.

While the marketplace determines the monetary value of everything, even Morgans..(-: I suspect it is each of us who determine that which a Morgan (and much else) is worth to us, and I suspect some part of that equation is assessed in terms of our emotional involvement..?

Of course an objects monetary value seems ever to be part of an assessment of it`s imagined worth, perhaps more so if that object`s acquisition was justified by it`s value as an investment, either to one`s self or significant others, then there may be a balancing act in play as it`s perceived market value alters relative to our current emotional entanglement with it..creating a perpetual see-saw each time we care to assess and re-assess those two values..?

I bought my Morgan circa 20 years ago as a nut and bolt rebuild of a barn find mid 80`s +8. Had I bought a mid 80`s 911, I suspect in terms of investment value alone, as ever, the Performance of the Porsche would have exceeded that of my Morgan..(-:

Emotional involvement... ? My Morgan is to me a work of automotive art, and that it was handcrafted in wood and aluminium using skills handed down from generation to generation adds to my emotional involvement with my Morgan, all of which no doubt reads like an advert for the marque, but is in fact very much a part of that which I bought into when I evaluated the cost of purchase.

Added to the above, the sense of adventure the old Mog provided on our Southern European jaunts over a few years and I suspect the emotional involvement may have increased by some degree.

As I have typed more than once, everything is relative.. (-: This chap also seems to have become a tad emotional about his cars over the years regardless of their actual monetary value..?

I think the CX has had an affect on some older Morgans, namely the Aeros. Before the CX launched you could get into an Aero Series 5 for 70-90 and I've been told that dealers couldn't give them away. Now an Aero Series 5 is over 6 figures which happened shortly after the launch of the CX.

Now, IMHO, I think we will have some interesting times ahead as emission standards are getting more stringent, fewer new ICE cars being released and the never ending supply chain issues will be keeping niche vehicles like a Morgan in a better position than other brands when it comes to second hand values.

I mentioned before that the current used CXs that are for sale have lost a significant amount of it's value when I compare that to what I recall second hand values of a lightly used Trad.

Time will tell...
