I've finally got around to lifting the front of my passenger seat and thought that I'd make the area easily accessible at the same time. This will be used to house our high-vis vests and emergency beacon which need to be easily accessible when touring on the continent.

Mrs Bunny made the neat 'wedge of cheese' shaped bag to slip into the underseat slot.


The rails are 6cm high at the front and around 5mm high at the back. They stop just shy of the chassis rail that supports the rear of the seat and having the tapered end 5mm thick helps to guide the back of the seat into place without it getting caught on the chassis rail.


I did try a 6cm lift to the front of the driver's seat but found that it was a little too much for me to comfortably reach the pedals so I ended up raising it by 45mm. However, Mrs Bunny reports that her seat is now much more comfortable!

I don't know about having under seat storage. That is WAY too practical for an impractical car!

Nice modification. I've considered doing something like this for comfort on longer trips, but wasn't sure if it would be that practical since my legs are so long. I'm 6ft 4in, and I don't know if I could really tilt the seat that much to make it work. Andy, how tall are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Very neat. A waterproof bag might be a good idea there! I do find I need a rubber mallet to get the seats back into place...

Around 5ft 8in last time I checked, but I've probably shrunk since then!

The critical measurement when you lift the seat base is the gap to the bottom of the steering wheel.

This varies according to which dashboard design you have. The shallow dash from the 2002 to 2006 (approx) era allows more upward adjustment of the steering wheel. Later dashboards are deeper, so limit that upward movement.

The steering wheels are removable I believe.

So the issue isn't quite the same if you have a removable steering wheel! But the gap between the bottom of the steering wheel and top of the seat base is still the one to watch.

I use a zip loc baggie to hold registration papers under my standard seat. Never had to show it yet.

Mrs Bunny has done a cracking job there.

great idea. I'm 6'0 and find the stock seat to be comfortable but raising the front would make it more so and easier to affix. Storage is a bonus.
