That got me thinking. Mine do have perforations inside (hard to photograph), the tailpipes are 42cm long and 7.5cm outside diameter. They stay very clean (in the year since I've had the car I have driven around 2,000 miles, I just wipe over the outside after a day's run). They are very quiet, which is sort of counter-intuitive for a Morgan....[Linked Image]

My outer diameter is the same and the internal not much small as it must only be 1 - 1.5mm thick. It might make exhaust gasses flow quicker, but feel it looks cheap compared to the look of yours. It never gets hot either which surprised me.

Thanks. Seems a lot for two lengths of bent pipes 😂

It was a dual-purpose day for me. I started by replacing the dashboard mounting screws. One was broken, causing the panel to sag to the point of interfering with closing the passenger door. I used stainless threaded inserts in the framework behind the dash, and switched from brass wood screws to stainless #8-32 oval head machine screws with finishing washers. When I put everything back together, I corrected the alignment of the steering wheel. The last person to attach the wheel must've missed their coffee that morning, because it was canted about 30 degrees anti-clockwise.

Once the heat of the day passed, I took the car on a 60-mile trip through a fairly empty section of my local area. There was next to no traffic, and the breeze was pleasant. Definitely a grin-inducing trip!

Steering wheels off centre are just as likely following tracking adjustment, where most of the adjustment has been incorrectly taken up on one track rod end only.

30 degrees is a lot though. Replacing the rack gaiters can also cause this. Mine was annoying out by 3 or so degrees after replacing the gaiters. With the Brooklands wheeel it stands out due to the vertical spokes

I replaced a rack gaiter but lowered the car onto wheel ramps to fix them in a steady orientation. This meant no dismantling of anything that would be moved out of position. As a precaution I got the tracking checked and it was unchanged.
My steering wheel is slightly out. I had to getthe horn working for an MOT. It is a Motolita 3 spoke with a quick removal boss. I did a “fix” to get the horn ok but not got round to a final fix. I replaced the boss slightly off centre on the splines so will re-centre it when sorting the horn wiring.

The Grail achieved

But not without incident. A sudden squall overwhelmed the wipers and as I slowed to try and get some visibility I was rear-ended by an articulated lorry that did not see me. That will be a few weeks off the road when we return.

Sorry to hear that. That is the second rear ending I have heard of this week.
