Our replacement coil over damper suspension units with adjustable spring platforms for the Plus Six arrived safely in NZ and have been fitted. Firstly a big shout out to Dan and Peter at SSL for their professional advice and guidance, plus a heap of patience they had answering al our questions! Well done chaps. Our Plus Six ground to wheel arch rim measurements with the new suspension units, on level ground, full tank of fuel, un-laden & 28 psi in tires. And after being driven and settled overnight. Front Left Front Right Rear Left Rear Right 675mm 676mm 695mm 693mm. ![[Linked Image]](http://https://imgur.com/8qwoTSG.jpg) It is such an easy way of measuring how high your car is off the ground and I would recommend all Plus Six owners with any concerns to measure their cars and compare with our car. Also the ground clearances are now virtually the same as Williams got from Morgan before I ordered the Plus Six 135mm front; 155mm rear. That is measured on the flat surface on the chassis adjacent the wishbone attachment point (where the Morgan jacking hole is located). My P6 130mm front; 150mm rear. The minimum ground clearance under the muffler is now 105mmAnother noticeable change was that with the dropped suspension the toe-in had changed and the car tended to wander a little on straight roads. With lifted suspension the toe-in was now back to what it should have been. I'm waiting for the brake unit replacement before I do a real road test on windy mountain roads so watch this space! A GREAT car just made better! [b][/b] That's legal and will get you over most obstacles without grounding....

Chassis clearance is about 130 at the reinforced jacking points - exhaust is about 20mm lower. (Bit awkward in the garage and we got rain.....)

Given the side to side (right to left) variations in ground to wheel arch heights I’m getting from other P6 owners we could find some of it being due to hand assembly of our Plus Six especially the front wings. Also tire pressures could make a difference. We are using 28psi all round as the standard.
The 130mm measurement was that at the jack location flat plate adjacent the lower wishbone attachment point? Was this measurement at the rear? If so what was the front measurements – right and left? The ideal, should be 135mm front; 155mm rear, plus or minus 5%.
I'm presently building a table of all the measurements owners are supplying via TM.
Also a bit worrying that Plus Four owners are now reporting loss of ride height when it was thought that they had escaped this problem.

.....tyre pressures could make a difference. We are using 28psi all round as the standard. OK now I'm confused. CX generation cars seem to be fitted with Avon ZV7's, am I right ? I have recently had them fitted to my S2 Roadster, and I'm running 24psi. Yet the manual for the original Roadster (roughly the same weight as the CX's I believe ??) states that the OE tyres should be 22psi. What's right/wrong here, and (short of just stuffing a lot more air in mine to see what happens), any ideas ?

Peter The Plus Six handbook list the following tires: Standard - Cooper Avon ZZ5 in 18" Option 1 - Cooper Avon ZZ5 in 19" First Edition cars - Continental Sport Contact in 19"
As to tire pressures for all tires the handbook states - 28psi/193kPa
When my suspension dropped I tried ever pressure from 22 psi up to 28psi but because the toe-in was changed it did not help. Now back to 28psi with the replacement suspension and resulting correct toe-in. Result - great handling and a pleasure to drive! Kerry

Thanks Kerry, and glad your car is sorted. I probably need a crash course in tyres. Horse for courses I guess. Different wheel diameters/widths and tyre profiles etc. I asked because yesterday I had a pothole-damaged tyre replaced on my Fiat 124 Spider. The Bridgestone 205/45 on17" alloys, run at 29psi.The car is about the same weight and geometry as an MX-5, on which the recommended pressure is 30psi. Peter, weight of the vehicle is one consideration for tyre pressure but with low profile 45s, if you ran at a lower pressure, you would be almost running on the wheel rims!

On Morgans with limited suspension travel the lower tyre pressures provide some of the suspension. If you have ever replaced old tyres on a Morgan you will be amazed at the difference.

If you have ever replaced old tyres on a Morgan you will be amazed at the difference. Quite so. My new ZV7's replaced 8-year old Toyo Proxes. A different feel altogether.
