My Plus 8 has bonnet extenders on the back edge of the bonnet to allow greater airflow. Am I correct in thinking it is the original catch with a threaded hook on the outer edge, or a totally different catch than normal?.
I have a photo onboard but don't know how to post as yet. Still getting to know the car. Any info would be appreciated.

The original catch with a threaded hook on the outer edge are the only one I have seen.

Cain at Wolf Performance offers them as well but his website appears to be down at the moment!

I have those Phoenix ones on my Plus8. The original catch onto the wing is drilled, the extenders bolted to them and adjusted. Measure twice, drill once where they are with swarf collected. You could remove them to drill but if careful then not a necessity. Make sure the bonnet pull mechanism is lubricated to make it easier to pull out the extra distance. Also periodically check the fixings to the wing of the original catch hook bracket as the extra strain/ vibration may loosen them. Allen key in the socket head above and small spanner on the nut underneath.
Note, you will probably get people telling you the bonnet is not closed! Last week on the M6 ( stuck nearly 3 hours due to a closure) a couple of people warned me!
It still gets quite warm under the bonnet but every little bit helps. I remove mine for the winter and replace for summer.

Michele is looking into the problem now, they didn't know it was down.

Up where you are Bryan perhaps not -but if you are travelling through Auckland very much an advantage, as I learnt sitting in the carpark at Mog 18 you can tell a plus eight approaching without looking up as their fan is running hard.

Not all +8`s have their fans running for much of the time. I think it may be possible that when EFI lean burn fueling fueling was introduced to better suit emission reg requirements that there was more dependance on cooling fans than there is in my mid 80`s carb fed +8.

I remember running in Front of Spanner Juggler in his then new +8 ( Circa 2002) on a Lakeland tour, when passing through town and stoped at either junctions or traffic lights, that his fan seemed to be constantly running.

I also suspect many a Morgan may be fan dependant as the result of crud build up in the cooling system, lack of regular use can cause crud build up. Add to that the possibility of tuning mods where cooling might have not been considerd relative to the extra heat generated ..etc. etc..?
