Peter I have a spare set free shortly, if i can find someone I trust to fit the new head unit and tweak the cables.

Alpine CDR117Ri coming out.

I currently have the spare Audison (older but good quality) LRx2-500 Stereo amp if you need to swap the power side of the system for testing.

Mine is almost certainly down to cabling but I am not certain if it is on the high or low power side.

I have yet to get down the end of the footwell to find the darned amp that someone kindly pointed me at.

Wonderful thread drift....

After living in Germany, amongst the German peoples, for 8 years I came to the conclusion that Germans have much the same sense of humour as us, but with one fundamental difference.
Most Germans laugh at others, not themselves. They take themselves too seriously.
Most Brits are happy to laugh at themselves as much as others, because we don't take ourselves that seriously.

I wouldn't necessarily say that German humour is mainly at the expense of others or another person. I sometimes miss the mixture of profundity and lightness or the play on words. Unfortunately, there is too much cheap, loud and stupid humour on TV, absolutely predictable and merely silly. But there are also real highlights, on stage and also among humorous people in everyday life.
We had a master of quiet humour in the 70s, Loriot. He had a magical way with the German language and its subtle nuances. He was also good in some sketches. Here's something where the language doesn't matter by Loriot. He's just sitting in the room waiting for his appointment...ok, a bit of slapstick, part of my early youth. Unfortunately, the picture quality is not the best because someone has removed almost all of Loriot's youtube videos.

Edit, the link does not work without the s of https, then it is just a white space…so I leave it as is.

Heinz, how very Morganesque.... One thinks to modify a simple foible which creates a knock on effect which was never imagined at the outset.... laugh2 hide

Back to the stereo opportunity Peter - I have installed the Blaupunkt Bremen in my Aero 8 and whilst I agree it is expensive it does work very well as looking very simple and classic (no flashing disco lights) and the unit is very short so fits well / better than the original unit giving all the cables more space behind the unit. Very simple to fit on my 2007 S3.

Somehow, it just looks right.
