Has anyone weighed a stock M3W flywheel and or combination of flywheel and clutch assembly?

Miata NC, '06/'15, which is what this transmission is used in, have lightweight racing setups that have total combined weight around 16#, or as low as 8.3# for just the flywheel.

This is a 215mm clutch disc diameter.

I have a stock NC setup, flywheel, disc and pressure plate along with a complete Centa and NC 5-speed. As soon as we're into our new Shouse and have my shop all sorted out, I plan on trial fitting the stock Miata unit. There's really no doubt in my mind that it won't fit and it could be an alternative to the more exclusive and higher $$$$$$$ of the M3W proprietary assembly.

Just an update on my wife and I moving from MO to MI. We sold our house in MO in 2 days and got more than asking. Closed on the MO house August 30th. Our Shouse in Clare MI was not yet completed nor had the final inspection. We headed north of the final time, 13 round trips in all. With 610 miles each way, it took us 13 trips to do the move ourselves with our 22' enclosed car trailer. We drive a diesel too... frown

My garage, workshop, has 13' side walls and is 50' wide and 56' deep. I have three 10' x 10' garage doors and a man door for the shop. One bay side will be for our "garage" area, my '21 Ford F-350 dually and my wife's GMC Terrain Denali. Our house portion, 1900 s/f, has 10' ceilings throughout and is a two bedroom two bath layout. She has an 8' covered porch on two sides of the house.

The entire Shouse has a concrete slab floor with in-floor hot water radiant heat. The house portion has AC ducted into the ceiling of the house. The workshop does not have AC, but when it's been hot here this summer/fall, it's been very comfortable inside the workshop. We did turn on the house portion of the heat this past week as the night temps are getting down into the high 40's now. I was very surprised that the house got up to 70 degrees within about 6 hours. Looking forward to it being -20 degrees this winter and working in the shop in shorts and tee shirt... smile

If anyone would like to see more of the Shouse, I can e-mail pictures and floorplan if interested. My new e-mail address is cvodan'at'gmail.com. Just to keep the auto keyers from picking up on the email...

Haven't been on much because of the move etc, but hope to get back to following all you guys soon!

The proper way to go . Is to simply use stronger springs on the pressure plate . Confirmed by English clutch supplier found on other thread .
No mess with all the weight fears , etc etc . Reason for a better , higher performance clutch ? ? I ride like a bandit, my left foot is horrible on clutches . My foot is not fuidly fully articulated as most . Medical term - Ganglia .
But really mostly if it is due to driving like a maniac and really really hard and fast . And all sorts of other reasons , performance , reliability , trick , sheds heat better, difficulty in replacement, life expectancy, time , money .
Every time I can go with a superior scenario without a downside … I’m on board. 👍🏼thanks
