In Alaska every vehicle has a 110 volt plug sticking out of the grill. In winter you park, plug in and then go shop. It used to be free but I suppose now we are into Ev's they will find a reason to charge for the service.

When I was about 18 and driving a Sunbeam Rapier which had no garage I used to leave a small parafin lamp thing under the engine in winter. Anyone remember those? Yep, as my previous post Remember when folk used to tie a piece of cardboard over part of the front grille in winter ?
We even had a sort of shallow drum paraffin heater that you lit overnight and shoved under the engine

My Ford Escort Mk2 with the 1.1 Kent engine suffered carb icing... even though you could point the air intake down to the exhaust manifold, likely the feeble heat from the 1.1 wasnt enough to stop the carb icing on motorway runs... but I haven't owned a car with a carb since 1991...

We had a grey plastic insert for our Ami 8 and without it you got zero heat from the heat exchangers either in the cockpit.
