I have one that replaces the U Bolt bottom bracket. Easy fitting and does what it should. Got mine from SSL.
Thought that it was a better option than the spring clamp method.

That's the one im thinking of getting. Was the u bolt bottom bracket under any tension or is it just bolt off the old, and bolt on the new?

That's the one im thinking of getting. Was the u bolt bottom bracket under any tension or is it just bolt off the old, and bolt on the new? Shouldn't be. The axle is resting on top of the spring, so as long as as you jack the rear up on the crossmember, the weight on the axle will be on the spring not the clamp so just bolt off, bolt on.

So, would fitting a Panhard Rod work on a 1997 +8 and what improvement could I expect please?
1997 +8 BRG, BMW Z4, Harley FXD, Greeves Silverstone RDS, Kawasaki H2 & Z1000 - no electric cars!

So, would fitting a Panhard Rod work on a 1997 +8 and what improvement could I expect please? Panhard rods work well on any car with a live rear axle. The biggest improvement I noticed when I did mine was that it stopped the sideways lurch of the axle under hard cornering.

Details are here Panhard rod . I hope that helps. I found a big improvement on my +4 when fitting one.

The panhard rod on my Roadster greatly exceeded my expectations. It really tightens up the rear in terms of lateral control, but what I didn't expect was that it would eliminate torque steer under hard acceleration. This was transformed, and the rear is now controlled, acceleration is dead straight. I don't have anti tramp bars.
Oh on the subject of anti tramps. When the single anti tramp bar was introduced on the Roadster, the rear ply bulkhead template was changed to provide clearance. So when I examined my 2012 Plus 4, I couldn't figure out why there was an enlarged hole adjacent to the offside spring. I assumed that the guy with the jig saw had screwed up. Much later, I suddenly realised the purpose of this enlarged hole!
I wish I had the confidence to fit a panhard rod to my Plus 4, but the later fuel tank is much closer to the diff. So much so that when offered up, the clearance is minimal. I don't want to do this job and then find that there is contact. I'm assured it will fit, but my eyes tell me it would be a challenge.
