Grant, if you drive 160 km/h at 4000 revs in fifth gear you have a 3,7 final ratio. 4.1 should give around 145 km/h at 4000 rpm. And yes, I also love my 4/4 a lot.

Hi guys,thanks for all the input.This is where I am at the moment.I have had it confirmed that my 4/4 sport was converted to competition spec by Revolutions up in Perth who converted it to go racing.It has throttle bodies,LSD,roll bar,AVO,s,panhard rod,etc,etc.After listening to all your comments and talking to Revolutions my next course of action is to replace the medium priced diff oil I purchased(with friction modifier)for some very expensive(£215 for 2.5 litres)diff oil+friction modifier,as advised in gomog.I will give this a go and report back to you with the result.Revolutions have said that if this does not cure the "ringing howl"I can take it back to them for investigation. Grant, that oil price is ridiculous Try talking to the chaps at Millers oils, they have a good tech dept, personally I use this in LS diffs, https://www.millersoils.co.uk/products/crx-ls-75w140-nt-2/ the Nanotech stuff has some benefits that may help your situation

To be honest, I would also follow Cooperman's advice. You can always upgrade. But the cost of the oil you want to buy is higher than caviar. Better to try a reasonable but good oil and invest the 215 GBP in French or Italian wine.

The shafts may differ in length , but the diff head is the same I believe, and Holdens till last year were very common. In fact they won their last Bathurst just yesterday. My laziest Sunday of the year -watching the 1000k from start to finish -even Zak Brown was there watching his team (they came second) rather than Suzuka and F1.

The best oil in the world will not hide the wailing from a badly adjusted or worn crown wheel and pinion, IF that is the issue. Having said that trying a premium oil such as Redline full synthetic 75W/90 LSD oil may be a relatively inexpensive fix if the problem is elswhere. Note that I found my BTR axle required more than the handbook suggested (1.6 litres) so had to order a second bottle.
