I think the question that all owners must ask of themselves when considering car preparation is "am I bovvered?" I'm not, Tarka is a car and I have had 8 years of enjoyment without doing more than normal cleaning. I did once buy polishing mops to polish the exhausts, but after one go concluded I wasn't bovvered...
I admire those for whom their car is a work of art, to be pampered, fussed over and shown off to others. But I don't want to be one of them. I also wonder about ultra low mileage cars that are, in effect, garage queens.... they deteriorate in storage, despite looking better than new and when woken from their slumbers many require much mechanical work.
Whatever works for you, enjoy it, but please accept us sluts that feel that as long as it is mechanically sound how it looks is less important, especially in hidden places!

I think the question that all owners must ask of themselves when considering car preparation is "am I bovvered?" I'm not, Me neither. My car is usually clean, and occasionally waxed, but that's it. I can't see the point of doing more. It was nice and shiny at 07:00 today, by 18:30 it had accumulated 220 miles' worth of motorway grime. Am I going to stay up washing and drying it for a couple of hours before putting it to bed? Nope, sod that for a game of soldiers, it can stay grubby for a few weeks. Once it's properly dirty I'll give it a good wash and brush up. But that's the great thing about Morgans (and just about anything else, actually). There isn't a single human being on the planet who is authorised to make pronouncements about what is or is not acceptable or good or bad about any aspect of ownership. There's nobody qualified to sit in judgement. We don't have to get anyone else's approval, they are our cars and it's up to us what we do with them.

Absolutely with you on that Peter and Tim, though I admire Craig and Dave W's dedication and subtle improvements to their cars.

] Mine isn’t that clean it’s called trick photography. [/quote] Oh yes it is Craig, and so's your garage!. Both a credit to you As has been said, its yours to enjoy. Mines in the rain, again, and the cat loves the roof, so it now sags and pools. At least I got the new windscreen in; it was very shiny and see through all over for a while; and the replacement (smaller) steering wheel doesnt have thread dropping out of it. yet. The heated seats are a revelation, and one day I'll get round to making a dash box to fit the switches properly. The replacement ignition switch works smoothly. and it all went back together in time to have a blast round the Peak District with the MCC Edinburgh Trial, although I think my led dash lights are designed for runway lighting. All said tho' I look forward to the day I have a covered/closed space and organised tools to do a full refurb. In the meantime, Ive booked myself on for Race the Waves Bridlington April 2023; plenty of time to get waxed up and gaitered!! Both cars relating to the OP look/are amazing examples, and will go on to give years of pleasure to their new owners, concorse kept or otherwise. p.s didn't get on with the wind blocker Phil

All said tho' I look forward to the day I have a covered/closed space I concur. Mine lives outside under a cover (and a very annoying Lime Tree). A soon as the cover comes off the car is either filled with leaves, seed pods or covered in sap (depending on the time of year). I do clean her a couple of times a year but I find it a chore, not a pleasure. Do the majority of the work on her myself, so my mechanic is not fussed about an immaculately clean engine bay. Most of my customisations are there to enhance my driving experience. The joy of a slightly tatty Mog is not getting stressed out by a dropped tool, a stone chip etc. All adds to the patina I met a concours enthusiast at a recent 'Coffee and Chrome' meet at Gaydon. He was ridiculing an E type as it had a dead fly under a headlamp cover. He attempted to engage with me, but my Mum always said, 'if you've got nothing nice to say, say nothing'......
