Time flies when you are old fart.

(even so after 8 years, the shiny engine compartment that are so dismissive about is no longer down to Lorne)

If you check any of the links from the previous posts you'll notice that all the bling under the bonnet was fitted by Lorne (he put some pictures on gomog and it's referenced in the original Brightwells auction) and the bling is still there (pictures on the website of the auction house currently offering it) so we can be fairly certain that the current shiny state of the engine compartment it is down to Lorne.

Again, if that's the style you like, then fill your boots. There is certainly a market for it, but it's not for everyone.

Forgotten what the point of this is.

I think I will have a Gin and Tonic.

Craig. your engine bay is SPLENDID. One of the finest examples I have ever seen. If I was the Concours Judge and your car was entered, I would give your bay more points than my own Plus 8s.
My bays are stylized in a fashion favoured in the North America and those of top vehicles through the world during the Golden Age of Automobiles. And I do NOT enter Concours Morgan competitions,
though I have often judged them.

There are some mechanical mods we could debate, but I think your engine bay is brilliant!

BTW, I just noticed that after my ownership, one of E9 MOG's the car's owners, changed the colour of the mohair top from the matching blue, to black.

Yes. We did a lot of mileage in that car. Two 8 weeks trips a year in Europe, both Spring and Fall. But it is a bullet-proof vehicle. It is a driver and will not
age. The later engine and later gearbox I put in in 2007 is unstressed and will last without intervention until 300,000+ miles. We do not favour Motorways
and Autoroutes, preferring little back country roads, where trads reign supreme. That being said, though we adored the colour, it would show every speck
of dust. We would spray it once a day at one of of those roadside places.

No. I do my all my own Morgan work. Why would I hire someone to spray the engine bay?! As I noted, unlike paint or unpolished metal, chrome and
polished stainless clean off in a few seconds with a hose. It is a LOT easier than using soapy water and wax. AND I discovered 30 years ago that if an engine
bay can withstand 1200-1400 psi, it will not stall in a rain storm. Just be aware that if you go that route, your car might not run for a few days at first. wink

I am sorry to have offended you so deeply. I am afraid I do not recall you..perhaps you were using another name. My apologies in any event. I try my very best
to be courteous on this forum the odd time I post something.

I sold the car in the Fall of 2013. 9 years ago. If you wish to track the car, I encourage you to do so. It is fun for me to know where it is.

Lorne

This is the bay of my last Plus 8. And the MMC helped me out and polished the ss when they made the car in 2002. We had a lot of fun.
