I find myself getting increasingly lured by the Alpine A110 for a number of reasons.
Firstly, it is getting rave reviews on you Tube from all who drive it, which has to be a good start, secondly it seems to be a fairly solid car with a better reputation for reliability than Lotus, another close competitor, and thirdly at £50k new, at the moment it seems to be not unreasonable value, especially as depreciation seems remarkably low, even compared with a Morgan.
It would mean selling my ARP4 as well as the low mileage 6 year old Golf R I have. The good thing is that there will probably be enough left over to buy an older Sigma engined 4/4 privately, so I will then have the best of both worlds.
That's the plan, now, would someone please tell me where I am going wrong with my man maths and thinking?

I think a couple of people on here have mentioned that they have purchased before. A little thread search should provide their names.
I will admit to admiring them for their honesty and fun-at-modest-speeds capabilities.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Paul, to be honest, you are nowhere wrong. I've had my 4/4 for 8 years, and let's say your ARP4 is remotely comparable to my former P4SS, so even so the 4/4 Sigma with 145hp, proper springs and dampers and ditching the ugly lowering blocks is extreme fun, my favourite and longest running Morgan. If I hadn't had an Elise since 15 years, I could very much go weak for an Alpine. It's not just consumers who are excited about the Alpine but also some very professional racers and car testers. Above all, many of them praise the classic driving feel and the softly setting limits that are a joy to drive. In contrast to other modern cars where you are 2 tenths faster on the track but only with driving aids and without feelings of happiness. Maybe the Alpine will suit me in a few years because it can also replace a road car for two people and because the entrance is more „normal“ for then old blokes than with the Elise.

I know someone with one, he's had everything..... he loves it. Everything I've read says its amazing. If the man maths work out, then it seems to me to be an absolutely perfect solution. To be honest, even if the man maths don't work, it's still perfect...!!!! Do it. Life's too short.

I've owned an A110S for a year now and it is a lovely car, just been to Switzerland & Austria in it, reasonably practical, handles the corners without any drama and in the real world more than fast enough. Drive it in manual mode and keep the revs up, similar to your APR4 and it'll fly along. Some Renault plastics / instruments which are ok but overall fit and finish are great. It's light and small (certainly by modern standards) so much easier to get in and out of, especially compared to my brief Exige ownership. Does it make me smile....not enough I'm afraid, it'll be going next year at some point. For me it's way better than a MX5 or the new Lotus but not a patch on a three wheeler, sad git I know 😀

The local Gendarmes down here in the deepest south of France have got at least one of them to catch the drug runners coming up the coastal motorway to Marseilles and beyond.

Is the Alpine a civilian-looking police vehicle or does it look like this one from the Netherlands? That would be a cool look for the Alpine. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/10/21/11540CE1-E164-4D0A-8D76-CD0F05F56B07.jpg)

A friend of mine has the A110S and on track with all the driver aids and paddle shift it was nearly as quick my Exige 350S which I had at the time. Far more practical as an everyday car but still not as practical as a Cayman which really does deliver the only car you ever need driving experience, practicality and quality throughout. Have a look at something older and more niche for purism and appreciate vs depreciation, such as the Cayman R from 2011 - only 108 registered in the UK!
Cheers, Paul

Thank you all for the positive comments. To be honest I was hoping that someone would highlight some awful shortcoming so I could take it off the list, but all comments seem overwhelmingly positive.
All I have to do now is to drive one, then clear the decks of the Golf R and the ARP4, to put some money in the bank, (I prefer to buy my cars outright, but that's another discussion).
