I want to fit a column mounted indicator switch to my 1969 4/4. Tried various models but insufficient room between steering wheel and dash. Any ideas please

The original Morgan column switch came from a Triumph Herald IIRC, but a standard one won't fit, you need to put an S bend into the shaft. This is a pretty fraught exercise, since (1) they are quite expensive and (2) there's a danger of kinking the tube.
I've done it twice now, I wrapped the stem in spiral banding to protect it and used the jaws of my bench vice to brace it whilst I put the bends in.

I think it was Ford Transit, but any BL one can be made to fit (I have one from an Austin Mini). However, I'm not sure how they'd fit on a '69 which has the indicator on a dash toggle switch I think.
You may have to bite the bullet and fettle the dash to make it fit. Column switches are so much easier - I've added a wiper column switch to mine as well.

Original was Ford Transit, MkII Cortina may be similar too but not sure.

The difficult you will have is with the steering column.
The pre 1970/1971 cars used a one piece steering column, the later cars used the two piece steering column.
The one piece steering column has absolutely no provision for a cam to cancel the indicator so you will probably need to rig up some sort of warning buzzer or bleeper to remind you to cancel the signal!!

Switch is courtesy of Ford Transit Mk1, Ford Corsair and a version of the Bedford CF. If you know where to look and the right part numbers you can pick them up for less than 20 quid Arwyn
