Yes, you are right. But each of the OEMs mentioned also manufactures its own engines.
However, as you noted, cooperations are common nowadays.

DaveW is right, the days of 'they all do that sir' are over, especially when you now want £80k for your product.
The recent, and not so recent past at MMC is littered with valiant attempts at introducing new products that are high on ambition but less successful in delivery.
The factory are pretty good at assembling the components, although my first new Morgan 15 years ago had woodwork/bodywork issues and they'd been building the same model for more than half a century by then...!
I wonder if the new (large) design department are too good/advanced/ambitious for the budget available to build the cars?
When you combine the (large) design team with the (large) management team, who talk management buzzword bo!!ocks like the new guy recently employed, high prices, 'average' build quality and questionable quality control you have a perfect storm, the right ingredients for.............. TVR, MG, Austin Healey, etc etc etc.🙃
Couldn't agree more! When Mercedes tied up with Chrysler (then subsequently tied in with Mitsubishi) to get economies of scale, access to US and Asia markets and in particular Chryslers' mass production QC and lower unit cost philosophy, it screwed all the new Mercedes models for years. Their JD Power rating fell along with the reliability that Mercedes were once so well known and respected for. It cost Daimler big style to decouple and took a further decade or so to bring back the Mercedes QC philosophy into their new models, almost a lost couple of decades where Mercedes products quality and reliability fell from their previous respected high. Even the big guys with massive development budgets and financial reserves can get it fundamentally wrong.

To all my fellow CX owners
I have just become one of the people that you were uncertain actual existed!
My Plus Six is presently at the NZ Morgan service agent in Auckland New Zealand for the warranty replacement of the Master Cylinder. I had a call tonight from the agent, Todd Pearce, to say that they had removed the original Master Cylinder only to find that the seals had failed and brake fluid was leaking into the brake booster unit.
While the car was one of the 50 First Edition models built in 2019 what with Covid lockdowns and health problems I had only done 1700kms and fairly gentle driving. Also the brake fluid had been changed and topped up so I was unaware that I was driving a potential dangerous car. Sure I had complained to Williams Morgan about the brakes prior to the recall as I felt that the pedal travel was excessive and that on a long trip increased to a point that it worried me. But I never thought that the car could have killed us if I had to brake at a critical time.
I’m certainly elated NOW that Morgan put in place an SAFETY RECALL/STOP DRIVE!

Thank you for the information! To the discussion whether there is a risk: That says it all! The brakes can fail!

My car is one of the cars (Plus Six launch model in Emerald) that Morgan Works used to develop and test the solution to the braking issues that caused the recall.
I can report that the brakes on my car now have a better feel to them than those of the demonstrator I drove. The new braking system was tested for 3000 miles (as shown on the odometer) before being rolled out.
I have no buyer regret , in fact the opposite is true, but that does not appear to be the case with all CX owners unfortunately.

I'm sure the brakes will be MUCH better.
With a couple of long tours round the South Island this month and in April I'm feeling relieved and much happier to be driving the best Morgan I have ever had - no buyer regrets here!

I've struck the JACKPOT!
The Morgan service agent phoned this morning. Apparently after discovering the faulty master cylinder and the damaged brake booster unit along with the brake servos, they moved on to fit the swirl tank to the radiator system. Upon testing they found that the radiator had split! After an overnight talk with MMC at this moment all the replacement brake parts PLUS a new radiator are winging their way to New Zealand.
Interestingly as there have only been a few actual master cylinder failures all tbe parts have been, at MMC's request, air-freighted back to the factory.
Fingers crossed that the Plus Six will be ready to leave on our South Island trip on 22nd. November!

This illustrates the danger of ignoring the requirement that a replacement master cylinder be fitted.
An interesting question is how many of the CX models have been “fixed” to date under the programme to remedy the situation since the beginning of September. There is no update of any kind that I can see in the current edition of Miscellany but I suppose the when the new Morganeer for November is available there will be an update based on inquiries made by or on behalf of MSCC.
I am surprised that there has not been further comment on my costings but note most appear to agree that MMC has rights of recovery against the third party (solvent) supplier of the defective components and hence will avoid the financial debacle feared by many.
I do not regret the purchase of my Plusfour but I do reiterate my comments about the failure of MMC to be frank and open.
