I agree - but would a Peter Morgan-style MMC be a viable business proposition in this day and age? The history of company failures is littered with organisations that imagined that they could just carry on doing what they had always done.

In order to keep going as a car manufacturer beyond the medium term, MMC simply _has_ to produce an EV (or other zero-emission solution), and in order to do that they have to have a platform capable of implementing it - even assuming they just buy in a motor/battery/management solution from someone else, it couldn't go on a trad chassis. That needs investment of a scale not even remotely in the grasp of a 'traditional' MMC.

MMC left me behind as a customer about 20 years ago, Charles took the company in a direction I was never going to be able to be a part of but that's never been an issue for me, I've got my Morgan and neither need nor want another. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure why they didn't simply sell the company to BMW. Perhaps they didn't want it? Let's hope InvestIndustrial can manage the way through.

Yes that all makes sense, change had to be pretty dynamic and I didn't subscribe to the Charles theory either. Having said that we possibly wouldn't have had the Aeromax without his input, I could be wrong. My reading of the M3W launch was that he pushed it into production before it was ready, could well be wrong on that of course.

Hopefully they have EV covered for the Super 3 and Plus range to ensure a future for them all, I wish MMC the very best in their future plans as the world would be a duller place without their creations even if they do not appeal to all.

Many of these comments may reflect a long term view. I would not necessarily disagree. There was a fair degree of doom around Charles leaving and Steve leading but I think the revised team did well in many ways even if I had a few gripes. All of the people all of the time?

A generalisation? VC and IC looks at it in the short term - in, cash, leverage, out, in many cases. This may not require a long term plan as far as they are concerned? Aston ?

Look at the range and profile of brands in his recent history, look at the period of engagement. Not a stupid man.
+ve view ? He brings a lot of experience and connections that open new ideas etc, again - new audiance?
-ve view ? yeah, not quite the same situation in Morgan I suspect, should be interesting to stretch his mind! Is this going to mean the traditional platform customer benefits? No.

Personally I would rent them as consultants on contract, not on staff but who knows what deals are being done as it is their money and stock to do with what they please.

Am I right in thinking prices just went up? Hmm where did the cash go?

They also need to ensure the working staff continue to feel the pride and respect. All the PR done by the previous/current management team presented the working teams in a great way. Through all this change they need to carry them as well? Quality control is driven by equal parts of motivation, pride and respect, both ways.

This is becoming a bit like a modern oscar wilde moment, unfurling chapter by chapter. If I did not love the Coupe, given the current advertised market prices, I might just cash out as well.

I wonder if an adjustment to the plan could be interesting. If there is one of course.

The Trad, shape, style, equity represent a BIG chunk of the brand. Interestingly I believe the customer base also add to this. It's not like a Basingrad saturday night car park with neon lit, banging stereo nova's. Nothing like a good bit of brand enablement!

Carry two business paths.
One for the existing customer base to retain the loyalty and promote the brand.

Second to drive the CX into the Global PCP farm. After all the 2030 change to BEV only is going to need a serious change and so they need to move prior to that unless they want to fund the entire thing?

All it would cost is a revamp of the parts program and interface to customers (buy over the interweb Amazon style and spanner locally + enhanced factory bodywork program). Mind you they would need to care about stock levels then. Aero wheels, window winders anyone ?

I love the smell of speculation in the morning.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Look at the profile and the length of service. Classic consultant roles in for 18 months , stir the mess & move on. Doesn't bode well

Yeah, that is what Sir John Harvey-Jones said.

He also said: "Planning is an unnatural process; it is much more fun to do something. The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression."

I'm getting to the stage where I'm reluctant to post anything about Morgan, as every post seems more pessimistic and doom laden than the last!!
I'm really not that miserable or negative, even though it may appear so.......😁

Like everyone on here, I really want them to survive and thrive.

I've said it for years and many others have probably said it more eloquently, Morgan seem to be convinced they are a real, big time car manufacturer!

They're really not.

They are small volume niche, oddball, throwback, outdated manufacturer of brilliant, frustrating, amazing, rubbish, perfectly British sports cars.

Now that Morgan have got in place a team of proper big time managers and a team of designers like a proper car manufacturer, they're moving further away from the DNA that used to make the cars special.

There is an old northern saying, Clogs to clogs in 3 generations..............
(just to close on a note of customary pessimism and doom.....!)😆

Oh clogs to clogs is a reality. We regularly stayed at a hotel in Salcombe. Founded and built by gen 1 it thrived. Gen 2 continued the tradition. But Gen 3 was three siblings. Two were not interested. One ran the hotel. It was a huge success, but two siblings sucked at the profits.

Eventually the two wanted their ££££. So it was sold. And stood empty for 8 years.

Generation 3 is corrosive.

Well, I don't think the theory extends to gen 5. But the runes don't look good.
