The coiled spring inside the drivers door latch ('67 Plus 4) is broken. I really don't want to buy a new unit for the sake of silly spring. Would any one happen to have a spare please? Or, how I could make one?
Thanks, Pat

Pat, if nobody else answers your question send me a PM and I will go and have a look at an old spare. From memory I'd say that there are no coil springs in the door latches of my 1967 4/4 so you maybe don't have the same as I.

It might be worth checking on some independent Landrover spares sites, as I think these handles are the same as fitted to some Landies.
Their used spare parts will be considerably cheaper, I'm sure!

Or a yellow pages search for a hardware supplier...

It is possible to buy a replacement spring.

If you go on eBay and type in defender safari door -- lock repair kits come up for £4.50 - which is the spring & 4 pop rivets.

Pat, your plus 4 should have the old type chromed cabinet lock type, not the later land rover type. Very difficult to source so best bet is try and find a replacement spring using the passenger door spring as a pattern. ' best of luck!
